This little vintage trials bike has run about 5 hours after a complete reconditioning. I purchased it from a collector. and during the winter of 2013-14. it was taken apart. fixed and put back together. Right. The engine was professionally bored and given a new. stock. one-over piston and pin. rings and new stock crank seals. It was de-carboned. cleaned and carefully rebuilt.
From the front wheel through the back. whatever needed repair was given careful attention. Just for example. a hair-line crack in the exhaust and brackets for the air box were brazed to stronger-than-new condition. A partial list of the reconditioning:
Engine. as mentioned. including transmission. clutch and carburetor New spark plug (of course) Wheel bearings cleaned. replaced where needed. or cleaned and greased Re-fiberglass rear fender Parts that were bent were straightened; those worn were built up or replaced. New chain and primary sprocket New tires New fork seals New seat cover New metric hardware where needed Repaint (rattle can) to as close to stock as possible (That's Allis Chalmers orange. by the way) Koni shocks (not new. but really good) Rox bar extendersI planned to ride this bike in vintage trials. so there was no attempt to make it into a museum piece. Everything is durable and works correctly in stock form. I had that set of Koni shocks hanging in the shop. They'll go with the bike. I have some un-restored lighting. brackets and wiring that go with it.
The overhaul took. You can almost count the revs on idle and it jumps cleanly with a twist of the throttle. It is a sweet little forty-year-old bike. Two stroke. 'Got any bean oil?
So. why am I selling it? First. I'm 76 years old and 6'4" tall. That should say quite a bit. Secondly. I don't have a place to ride it. If I had a ravine back yard. I'd keep it.
I'm asking the buyer to pick up. although I do have a trailer and we might be able to negotiate a meet-up within a day's drive from central Illinois.
The mileage is after the overhaul. I have no idea how many miles were on it when I bought it.
A PayPal down payment. or total. is preferred. but I'll listen to another proposal.
