1974 SUZUKI TM 400 VINTAGE MX AHRMA RACER CYCLONE TM400

Frame: TM400-35249Engine: TM35266This was surprisingly in very nice shape when we purchased it. so we did not have to do a full restoration on it (pretty close though once we got into it!). What we did do were those things that matter the most. As usual we did tear it down to the bare frame to check out everything. All bearings were cleaned. re-lubed. etc. new engine gaskets. seals. including crank seals installed. The new lower rod crank bearing were installed by a machine shop. We installed a new piston and ring into the cylinder. The bore on the cylinder was still in very nice shape and in spec still with the standard bore. Bike runs great. all gears shift fine and clutch works great as well. Now I have to say. if you are looking at this bike you may already know what the TM 400 is all about but just in case you don't know we need to share this is not a beginner's type bike. It is very fast and has a lot of power. When you get to almost half throttle it will take off and gain speed very fast. Many riders of this bike refer to this as the light switch power band. All of sudden it is 40 horsepower which is OK if you are an experienced rider and know what to expect. Kind of fun in a way! The fenders are original Suzuki made in Japan and they are not cracked or broken. the same goes for the inner mud flap. The fenders had some paint chips so we touched them up after color matching the paint. Tank still has the original factory paint with some small chips. etc. in the paint. See the pics and video to see the original paint. although the small chips. etc. are not clearly visible in the pics and video. Bike has nice factory side plates. The factory pipe and silencer are still in nice shape for its age with a couple of light dings. not smashed up as most down pipes tend to be. Rims are in nice shape with no cracks or flats spots and they spin nicely. Forks are very nice with no rust or pits and the seals have recently been replaced. The tires are Michelin. not new but still in nice shape with no dry rot. Bike has a nice set of Progressive rear gas shocks. Some new parts went into the bike as well. New clutch cable. front brake cable. throttle cable. NOS Suzuki air filter. NOS Suzuki carb intake manifold. chain. NOS Suzuki chain buffer which is the rubbing block for swing arm. kick and shift rubber. grips. front number plate and mounts and number plate decals. As mentioned previously. we also put in an NOS Suzuki standard piston and ring as well as lower rod bearing. gaskets seals and crank seals. We went through the carb and set it to the factory specs. There are no leaks on this bike. I do want to mention that when I purchased the bike the oil tank and lines were removed. so pre-mix is required. I removed the pump and installed the proper block off plate. Pump is still in nice shape and is included with the bike. All other parts to run the pump are still working and in good shape. but you need the oil tank lines and a new throttle cable if you want to the run the pump. I also have a nice parts manual I am including with the bike. Please note. this bike has a lot of compression so it needs a healthy kick to spin over the engine to start. As bike has new piston and rings it should be ridden some what on the easy side first. This is a very nice 41 year-old rare vintage machine.
