One day this bike will be a desirable classic and be worth thousands. Unfortunately today is not that day. Painted in what can only be described as retro Team Durex colours. looks great from a distance but the nearer you get you encounter texture that Stevie Wonder can communicate with and there is a handy paint run on the front of the tank that can be used as an occasional coat hook. Paint masking looks to have been undertaken after a few bevvies late on a Friday night – giving edges that Charlie Dimmock would be proud of.

That leads me on to another point  - or two ……….

Purchased almost exactly 12 months ago on an ebay whim. the bike has since amassed a further 18 miles which is exactly the distance from the MOT station to my home. The journey was pleasantly surprising. to the point that I announced that I would be using the bike regularly. only to leave it parked up in my garage until the point where I could really use the room for the next illogical ebay purchase.

Having amassed the total of 37000 miles by its eleven owners. the old bus is solid and rapid. Look past the asymmetric genuine carbon look mirrors complete with integrated indicators and you’ll find even more less than original features.

Everything works as Suzuki intended and the MOT runs until the 25th June. If required. I will get a new MOT for the bike for the lucky new owner at the additional cost of the MOT fee (?29. 65).

The front brake discs do not appear to be a matched pair. I believe that one was replaced just before I bought the bike but there are no issues with the brakes. no juddering or pulling.

In addition. I have the original pillion seat complete with grab rail just for the off chance that your nearest and dearest would want to rekindle the 80’s with you.

The bodywork has a few small stress cracks in it in various places and I wouldn’t be surprised if the randomly placed stickers hid the occasional blemish but I can safely say I didn’t stick them on the bike and not had the desire to peel and peek.

The bike is available for viewing at my workshop in Bromley. Kent. Mon – Fri 08:00 – 17:00. We are a small service and repair motorcycle workshop that does not generally sell motorcycles. The bike is my own. registered in my name at my home address and it is being sold as a private sale. That said. if you were to purchase the bike and return within a week with a genuine fault. I would do my utmost to repair or refund as we run a genuine little workshop and try to ensure that all our customers are happy.

There is a wad of paperwork that comes with the bike – usual stuff like a stack of old MOTs and invoices for service work from the times when the bike was new enough for owners to care about keeping service records.

If you are lucky enough to become owner number 12. you will be expected to pay at least 10% deposit within 24 hours of purchase with balance in cleared funds on collection within a week.

Bike is currently SORN so you will need to get it taxed before riding off into the sunset. Post office is less than 100 yards from our workshop.

You owe it to yourself to invest in a future classic. Remember. who in the 80’s would ever think that a MK2 Escort would be worth thousands in the 21st century? Buy it and love it.
