I've come to the conclusion that covering a few hundred miles a year on this isnt right. This isnt your normal abused wreck nor is it a nut and bolt rebuild garage queen - this is a well looked after. low mileage (22k). clean Slingshot. I've had it for nearly 4 years and in that time its had the following:
In the last few months -
Valve clearances checked and adjusted
Head stock bearings replaced
Both sets of wheel bearings replaced
Swing arm bearings replaced
Carbs balanced
Oil and filter
K&N air filter serviced
New Nitron road shock
Under braced swing arm
New unbadged Fuel exhaust end can (a lovely thing)
5 degree ignition advancer
Dyna coils (the green ones) and Taylor leads (yellow)
It now runs spot on and the rear shock has transformed the handling.
Also in my ownership:
Fork seals replacedStainless headers (Micron I think). originals rotted. Brakes bledLots of the body panel fastners replaced with NOSSeat cowl (rear seat included)New Yuasa batteryRare headlight protector fittedOil & filter done yearly by me (and plugs every other year). Tyres. chains and sprockets all good. It comes with the following:
Couple of spare rear sprockets. two other swing arms. two end cans and all the bits I've taken off. Original toolkitNew EBC front pads (not fitted)Owners handbook and Haynes manual
There is a small dink in the RHS rear panel (just above the rear foot rest). the monkeys at the last garage it went to leant another bike against it and I didn't notice until I it got home.
MOT until end of March. It comes with some history and I'm fairly certain David Cameron says I cant sell it with any road tax. Cheap to insure and has been a pleasure to own.
I wont ship. accept anything other cash and I'm not interested in a swap.
