Description

GS1000s replica built from a 1982 GS1100g by Motorcyclist magazine and featured in the May 1986 issue: a tattered copy will accompany the sale. The build work was done by Team Works Performance of Huntington Beach Ca. All frame and body panels were torn down frame blasted and painted to look like the Wes Cooley bike.Added goodies were: GS1000s fairing and Gustaffson smoked windscreen: the smoke one was broken when I bought it in 2003 and I had Gustaffson make the blue one. Russel stainless brake lines Dyna coils Progressive Suspension fork springs fork brace Suppertrapp 4 into 1 exhaust Raask rear sets and Ohlins piggyback rear shocks. The bike still has the Dunlop tires stated in the article. The engine is stock. When I purchased the bike it had not been ridden much since the build and had been left outside under a staircase for a few years. I replaced the fork seals and installed a manual cam chain tensioner and head gasket cleaned it up and rode it sparingly during our short season here. I ended up taking a job out of town and placed the bike in indoor storage; always intending to restore it. It hasn't been ridden or touched in over 3 years. It bears the badges of use though still pretty it does have some paint chips & cracks. One of the side covers is fastened at the bottom with a zip tie. This cover also has had a paint chip fixed with colored gel coat by a previous owner: not a horrible job either.. Amazingly enough. It was running when I parked it(I rode it there) and I put one shot of stabil in it 3 years ago. The tank has been drained recently(not rusty) but I am sure that the carbs will need attention. The stator is stock and something that I always intended to change but didn't: the stock ones are junk. There is a small crack at a mount hole on the windscreen made by this overzealous installer with a drill bit: it has not grown and didn't bother me enough to change it. It will let go of second gear if you are hard...and I mean HARD on the throttle but holds fine if you are not ripping through second. It has developed an oil leak while in storage. This bike is very solid to ride. The Ohlins eliminate any of the pogo typical in shafties of this era. I am offering it in its current state because if I get it running I will ride it " just once"...and it will never get to the better home that it deserves.Clean Nevada title no reserveBike is in storage in Minden Nv 89423.
