Description

1981 Suzuki GS450 Custom Caf? Racer

Thank you for checking out our 1981 Suzuki GS450 Caf? Racer Build. The previous owner had all of the paint-work completed on the motor and frame (professionally painted with automotive paint ... black) prior to getting redirected to focus 100% on his job. He appeared to be a sincere individual and wanted to move her to a good home and to someone that would finish what he had started (he had invested a lot of time/effort/money in to getting the motor and frame painted professionally). He shared with us that his motorcycle mechanic (from a local professional shop) had gone through the entire motor and confirmed that both the top-end and bottom-end were in great shape. We took a chance and are very happy we did she is a great bike: fires right up as soon as you it the starter button runs beautifully charges nicely goes through all 6 gears with no issues and no engine smoke (compression:165psi left cylinder 163psi right cylinder). The previous owner had plans to turn her in to a bobber or brat bike; however we thought she had the right bones for a caf? racer!

Please check our website (address below) for more information and photos on this bike including several before/during/after shots along with a couple videos so you can hear her running and going down the road.

Here is a list of some of the things we have done as part of her transformation:

- custom fabricated aluminum seat pan (we purchased this seat pan on ebay several years ago – it needed some clean-up work but she turned out really nice plus being aluminum it is super light-weight)

- front fender has been cut down from stock to help compliment the bike

- new color matched ? fairing with smoked windscreen

- new Shinko sport touring tires

- new AGM Extreme Battery

- new reverse cone shorty mufflers

- new matching matte black mini speedometer (with trip) &minitachometer

- new LED indicator lights incorporated in to the headlight housing (oil neutral high-beam)

- new custom fabricated license plate bracket with super-bright white LED

- new front fork oil (added a 1" spacer with 30 wt oil)

- new fork boots

- new matte black clubman handlebars

- new pod filters

- new oil & oil filter

- new low profile aluminum mirrors

- new DID chain

- professionally upholstered seat pad with marine grade vinyl

- tins painted with PPG Ford Performance White PPG GM Torch Red and ?” Black pin-stripe PPG DC2000 Deltron clear coat (we believe this color combination really pops)

- carbs were fully disassembled cleaned and rejetted with slightly larger pilot jets (from 17.5 to 20) and larger main jets (from 115 to 125) – she runs beautifully through the entire RPM Range

- new bearings on rear wheel/hub front wheel bearings where repacked with grease same with steering/neck bearings and the swingarm bushings/needle bearings

She is a 100% turn-key bike fire her up warm her up then get on her and go – all she needs is her next care-taker! She is pretty fast for a 450 twin from the 80’s – we did pull a lot of weight off of her which helped with her overall performance/improved acceleration! We wanted to pay a homage to the vintage Suzuki road-race bikes thus the vintage color scheme and styling! She is a head-turner for surefolks really love the look of this bike. The next owner will be getting lots of comments/attention. She is truly a very nice ride and would look right at home in one’s collection! If you happen to be near us feel free to stop by the shop and meet her in person!

Check out our shop and our perspective on custom rides/builds at www.barebonerides.com... you can see more photos of this bike on the website. Our builds have been shipped throughout the US and to several countries around the world. Several of our customers have come back to us for multiple builds! We like to build simple/clean bikes that should be ridden – they are not museum pieces; however many of our bikes have taken trophies at local bike shows! We only run non-ethanol fuel in our bikes and we highly recommend to all of our friends/customers that they do the same ESPECIALLY for those older machines that are carbureted! We have gone over the bike thoroughly and she is ready to go … normal maintenance will be required (as is the case for ALL machines both new and old). Please contact us prior to bidding if you have less than 10 positive feedback scores or a questionable feedback score/rating.

We really appreciate your time in checking out this bike – and if this is not the bike for you as always we wish you much luck on your search for that perfect ride and addition to your collection!
