Hi. welcome to my auction of my TL1000s. /p>
I bought this TLS from a friend and it was in a bad shape to be honest. I like a wee project for the winter and needed a road bike to go to the TT races this year so started stripping it down. ended up with a frame in the middle of my garage floor!. I am very picky when it comes to my vehicles and the more I sorted the more it exposed another area I wasn't happy with and it snowballed from there. I am under no illusions that I will not recover the money I have put into the bike but enjoy pottering away. winter is coming again so must go to make way for my next project. The bike itself is very enjoyable to ride on the road. nice amount of power. awesome noise and handling. braking now what it should be and nothing even remotely close to a standard TLS (thank god) I have spent hours setting up the geometry/suspension settings and experimenting with tyre sizes to get it handling how I like it.
As standard the TLS'S come with a few weak points that are well known this bike has none now!!!!!!!!! . I have personally (deep breath :).
Gutted airbox (improve flow/power)New Silicone HT leads and Plus Mod (no more dropping to one cylinder in rain and plug fouling)Yamaha R6 shock conversion and proper CNC'd bracket. billet rear ride height adjuster( now has damping. standard rotary damper thrown in skip)New clutch cover o-ring (revised o-rin stops leaks)New clutch cover actuator and push rod and seal (again stops leaks)GSXR1000 k4 front end + K3 radial calipers (standard forks and brakes woeful at best)External fuel filter mod (standard in tank one gets blocked after years and causes premature fuel pump failure)I have also added. Every bolt I could replace has been replaced with Stainless allen socket cap (OCD!)Pirelli supercorsa (soft front. medium rear more than 50%t in them)The bike is obviously not standard colour. it is a 3 stage oCandy orange that looks awesome in the light and looks different in direct light / nightime etc and really stands out. Everyone that sees it in the flesh comments on it! Doesn't come out the best in some of the photos as it was a bit cloudy when I took them but you will get the idea! I have fitted GSXR k4 clocks to the bike and unlike most not only have a rewired the block connector to take them. they have been modded inside with a programmed chip so the Throttle position sensor/fuel light and error codes come up as standard. they really modernise the bike. The front fairing is subtly cut down to get rid of the fairing stay. looks really nice. I have removed the steering damper as it doesn't need it. never had a tank slapper yet. still have it though. I also have a beat up set of standard cans I got from Ebay in case I had problems with MOT (haven't) I think I have the standard rear footrests and also have the pillion seat for it.
BAD POINTS
the engine looks a little tatty. my plan was to sent it away to get cleaned and then painted but couldn't have guaranteed it would be back in time for the TT so that wasn't done. there are various age related marks for a 14 year old bike. no fairing cracks or dents in tank just small marks here and there on the bike. The cans are past there best and if I kept it would def put a set of Yoshi's on her. but they do the job and sound great. The mileage on the clocks is wrong. I bought the bike from my friend and the clocks were in KM's! When I replaced the clocks they had 44. 000 km (28k miles) I then bought the GSXR clocks had 14100 miles on them. mileage now 15700 miles so 29k ish. Not trying to pull the wool over anyones eyes just want to be honest. Mileage is recorded on the MOT from previous years to prove
All in all if there is a better/faster bike for the money that is turn-key ready to go I would like to see it. I have photos to prove this bike was stripped to the frame and rebuilt a few months ago. I know I would make more parting out this bike but cant be bothered with the hassle of posting parts. I have no idea how many hours went into it but it was a lot!!! A 1000cc V-Twin really is perfect for the road. grab an autumn bargain. nbsp;really will sell with no reserve. I have the current MOT and also V5 present and in my name. Sorry if the advert is a bit long but would rather people knew what they were buying and I always try to be honest when I sell things.
