1972 Suzuki GT550 J - rare first year production

This bike was imported from the US earlier this year and was previously owned by a collector and has sat in his collection for many years unused. hence the low mileage of 8488 miles from new. As the bike has not been used for several years she will need to be completely recommissioned for registration & use in the UK. As a minimum I imagine you will need fresh oil and filters and a complete carburettor clean / overhaul etc. The bike kicks over with excellent compression but I've not attempted to start her or fuel her. Again the condition of the crank seals is unknown as I've not had the bike running or attempted to run her. Overall the bike is in largely original / unrestored condition aside from the tank. side covers and for ears which have all been re-finished in the original Suzuki Redondo Blue metallic colour to a high standard. The headlight bucket is original paint. The frame also has been touched-in in a few places.  There is some pitting to the chrome in places which again suggests the bike is largely original. The exhausts are in lovely condition and are completely original and solid throughout. The front and rear brakes are both free and operate well. All of the original switch gear is intact and presents nicely. The seat is in excellent original condition with no rips or tears. The clocks are in good condition with some light fading to the plastic faces which is typical with these early GT550 models (but I've seen much worse). Overall this is a great project bike for someone. but I need to put the proceeds from this sale towards my other Suzuki GT550J restoration project. hence the sale of this bike. Please refer to the photos carefully as these form part of the description of the bike.
