1967 Suzuki TC250 (video link below)
This is the scrambler version of the X-6 Hustler (e. g. T-20 or super six) that I found on Craigs List in 2012 and did a ground-up resto. It runs good and my brother-in-law finished the Motogiro East this May on it and a friend used it for the Motogiro USA in September (but ran out of gas). Knowledgeable readers who continue know I won?ˆ™t break even on this ?ˆ“ but I had fun bringing it back and two other projects are in line.
What I?ˆ™ve done:
Powdercoated frame
Local bodyshop replicated stock color scheme
Replica seatcover on stock foam
New handlebar. levers. switchgear*
New fork oil seals and fork internals cleaned.
New rear shocks
New front fender
New tires (Kenda) and tubes.
New cables.
New petcock.
New headshell (replica)
New main wiring harness. coils. points. condenser.
Gastank and oil tank cleaned (evaporust ?ˆ“ no liner to preserve gas gauge fittings)
Airbox rust neutralized and K&N filter installed*
Cylinders/heads cleaned with new pistons. rings. correct hone.
All engine bearings replaced with NOS items.
Crankshaft seals replaced (had inner seals replaced in England)
New shift forks and two gears replaced .
Kickstart fiber bush replaced with later alloy bush.
Carbs cleaned. new slides. *
New manifold* to airbox
New sprockets and chain
Mounting tab welded to right sidecover
Replaced right exhaust and cleaned baffles
What could be done:
Oil injection pump has slow drip. I think it is at the cable shaft. Pump itself works great (no bubbles in lines) but two stroke oil will reach floor after several days.
Original airbox was corroded and filter in sheds. I cleaned/neutralized it and replaced the stock filter with same size K&N but new filter held is held in place with wire coat hangers. Works great but not stock.
Original manifold (hard/cracked) replaced with replica which needed rubber extensions to reach carbs.
Carb float bowl mounts were warped (common problem). I filed the bowls to fit and mounted with sealant. Carbs work great and bowls do not leak but not stock.
Left side engine cover (clutch) mounted with sealant to stop slow oil weep.
Brakes and drums fully disassembled and cleaned but I think would perform better with new shoes.
There is a short in the horn switch wire (runs inside handlebar). Horn wire inside headlight shell presently disconnected.
Muffler ?ˆ?stingers?ˆ? missing. These were largely cosmetic and routinely removed.
PLEASE NOTE:
Bill of sale only. Bike is currently registered in Connecticut which does not issue titles for older vehicles.
Bike for sale locally. I reserve right to end listing at any time for any reason.
I do not know what the actual milage is on this bike. Odo works now but cable was originally missing.
Bike has an additional shortened/bobbed front fender which I had repainted with rest of bike.
The gas level tube on the left front of the tank is the stock arrangement.
These bikes were the first production motorcycles with 6 gears and the tranny should be treated gently.
These bikes were made before ethanol. If you leave the petcock on. gas will eventually get past the float valves and on your garage floor.
This is a vintage performance two stroke. It is thirsty. can fowl plugs. and will smoke at start up when cold. The longer the ride. the better it runs.
As I have done in the past and my schedule permitting. I will trailer the bike to the TA truck stop on Interstate 95 in Branford. Connecticut to meet your shipper.
