MAICO 250. 1974. These are very well made bikes with a fast Maico 250 two-stroke single engine with twin exhausts and top running gear: Marzocchi front suspension. Girling rear shocks. Grimeca brakes. alloy wheel rims etc. Very light machine. only weighs 120kg (264 lbs). This bike has been in dry indoor storage (in house) since 1975. started regularly. Imported from Germany 1975 but never registered in UK. Will cost £55 to get registered on a 1974 M or N plate. Only got 5. 30 km on clock. 3. 00 miles. looks genuine. I was told it was when I bought it and believe it. Good condition throughout as you would expect. still wearing its original metal plug cap. also has original toolkit in roll and the original hand pump is also present. Chrome is very good throughout. silencers mint like new. Original paintwork is starting to go in a couple of places on the tank but very good on the frame. sidepanels etc. No tears. splits or rips in the seat but it has a few small splashes of emulsion on it. should come off. The bike still looks really good for forty years old. obviously due to not having been used much. Anyway. I bought this a while back and just covered it up in my house (this bike has led a pampered life) and did nothing with it. Anyway. I changed the oil. put a battery on and put some fuel in the tank this morning and it started straight up. despite having been sat under a dust sheet here in my house for months. Ridden it down the lane and it is very quick and very light. Clutch. gearbox. brakes all good. headlight and brake light works. No oil leaks. However. it has been sat unused for many years so remember that it is not a completely mint newly restored bike. it is an original old thing that still looks very nice indeed but not new and restored up. I noticed on my quick spin today that the revcounter is loose in its case so will need a new clip. think I have one that came with it. will be included if I find it. also one of the indicators does not work. Very rare motorcycle. Viewing welcome by appointment. no test pilots or potless wonders wasting an idle hour though. Please only view and bid if you have the money. have the permission of the wife and are a genuine buyer. Delivery can be arranged in the UK for £1 a mile. eg if you live fifty miles from Sandy then that will be fifty pounds delivered to your door. £100 deposit by paypal at end of sale. rest in cash on collection or bank transfer. All monies required up front if you want it delivered. Happy to sell to an international buyer from outside the UK but it will be your responsibility to have the bike collected. I can recommend Chas Mortimer for delivery worldwide. see his website http://www. chasmortimer. co. uk/ Nice classic seventies motorbike. Much more exotic than the Yamaha RD250 or LC250. Suzuki GT250. CB250 Honda or KH Kawasaki KH250. cost about twice as much when new so very elite. Although each one of those mentioned is a cracking bike and a classic in it's own right.
