The Suzuki TS range of air cooled two strokes are among the most successful dual sport bikes ever built. they are robust. reliable machines with good performance. The 246cc air-cooled two-stroke single TS250 was introduced in 1969. It had 23 bhp. five speeds and high level exhaust. the TS was based on the TM250 motocross machine but the TS had less powerful engine and it was built as a dual purpose machine. being street legal and having the Posi-Force fuel/oil mix system.
This particular TS is in fair condition. as can be seen in the photographs it does have some issues that will need attention.
You will see the left hand side of the tank has some damage. unfortunately this happened in the shipping container. Internally the tank is not good. a previous owner has coated the inside of the tank. this has now become soft so we have run the bike using an auxiliary fuel tank.
The engine runs well with no sign of piston slap or crank problems.
The rev counter is working but sometimes the needle jumps. the speedo does not work. I feel this might be a matter of cleaning the internals of both to get them working. The speedo drive and cable are working condition. the bike has a km/h speedo being an import it's showing 41908 Km/h which equates to 26192 miles.
The wheel rims are alloy as standard and have no damage. the spokes are tight. Both front and rear tyres look close to be new.
The seat edge has some rust. again this could be repaired. The exhaust is in very good order with no damage to the down pipe.
The lights. horn and brake light are working as should. We have lifted the fork gators and the fork tubes are in good order. the seals show no signs of leaking. the fork action is smooth and damping effective.
This bike would make a great way to spend the long winter evenings. it definitely needs some work to return it to its former glory but it should prove a straightforward project especially as it is a running and original example.
