1993 K Kawasaki KLR 250 D8 KL 250 cc 36K easy project trails MX off road

KLR250-D8 Kawasaki's 250cc dual purpose MX bike has been around for years. it uses Kawasaki's tried and tested liquid cooled. 4 valve. DOHC single cylinder motor. less extreme than most. it made a good novice/off road bike that was cheap and easy to run.                                                          This bike had been left in the garage for a year as the owner just did not use it. it will need a small bit of work to get back on the road or can just be used off road as is. The worst bits I found were the fork seals had leaked a bit of oil. the alloy DEP exhaust leaks/blows from a couple of joins and there is no sprocket cover. Otherwise it has a good battery and all the electrics work as they should (lights. hooter. indicators etc) quite rare I think. for an MX bike :) it also has a manual toggle switch for the fan (a common Kawasaki fix)  It has good pads. tyres and very good chain so it shouldn't need any consumables. The bike is in pretty good original condition for an MX bike and looks like it's spent most of it's time as a road bike.

The bike does start and run. sounding nice and will tick over nice and evenly. it pulls well up the gears running and riding ok. however. I have an admission to make. in that I am actually too short to kick start it myself. :(  I gave up clambering over it and just bump started it.   luckily I also collared a taller bloke who gave it few kicks and it started ok too. So. not brilliant for short/light riders. it has what looks like a new Hagon monoshock which has raised it up a bit higher than standard.                 A rather tidy original KLR250 as a simple project that's mostly all there. a bit tall for some. it comes with the keys. the V5 logbook and 3 old MOTs. the last one in 2012 was showing 35956 miles so has hardly been used since then.
