The V-Strom 650 ABS is very versatile. an adventure tourer. great  back roads weekend bike. a commuter. maybe even a light off-road bike. Regardless. the V-Strom just does it. The 645cc 90-degree V-twin liquid-cooled motor. mounted in a twin-spar aluminum chassis which was significantly reworked in 2012. has an amazing power band and is more than adequate to handle traffic. These are peppy machines that easily make the commute very enjoyable. Vibration is fairly common and can be an issue for any sub-750cc scooter. even for twins. but not with this bike. This is an extremely smooth engine that seamlessly moves through the rev-band effortlessly.   You will feel some vibes as the revs pick up. but that goes away as the RPM’s move up.  The fuel injection provides a very positive feedback and makes for smooth operation.   Likewise the shifting is also smooth and clutch pull is light.   The six-speed transmission is exceptionally smooth. First gear is very low for easy slow-speed riding and 6th gear will easily take you to illegal speeds.   These bikes love the twisties where it feels light. nimble and plenty powerful. The V-Strom's Showa fitted suspension is relatively plush yet still very balanced. If you need a bit more firmness. say when you’re carrying a passenger. the rear shock has an external preload adjuster that is easy to use. It has decent ground clearance and more than five inches of wheel travel at both ends - far more than your average streetbike.  

There isn’t much not to like about the V-Strom.   Her history is filled with great reviews. and they have logged many miles giving their owners huge grins.   She is a strong and reliable stead that will carry you comfortably through most every adventure you can throw at her.
