The Aristocad -a pre-war and fully armed British sport bike concept.
The story-There is a story of an eccentric and artistic English aristocrat who. alongside a mysterious woman from the Mediterranean. tried to quietly stop the political rise of the Nazi party in the 1930’s. The English lord was a prominent connoisseur of the fine arts and was rather private. The woman. who was said to be of incredible beauty. was persuaded by the lord to get close to key members of Adolf Hitler’s political inner circle by serving as a madame in a high-end brothel outside of Berlin. Once the woman discovered when the political party would be traveling by car. she and the lord planned their own putsch to quietly snuff out the party’s key players; and in turn. the political momentum of the German demagogues. As the story goes. the woman was set to ride with the German convoy as a “traveling companion. ” The English lord would be waiting in the wine cellar of a nearby estate and was to ride on what was said to have been a machine gun clad motorcycle to take the convoy by surprise. In the confusion. while masked by the cover of darkness. the woman was to assassinate the key members of the party. By using the pistol of a German officer. the plan was to mask the attack as an inner conflict of the political party. After the assassinations. the two would vanish on the motorcycle into the darkness.
Such an event was never officially recorded. but there has been mention of such a convoy being slowed by machine gun fire. The woman was said to never have been heard from again. and the English lord was known to be very reclusive during the years following the war. One can only wonder if the woman had been playing both sides or if the Germans had learned of her plan.
Those that were said to have known the lord later joked that his motivation had less to do with the worry of the effects of the Nazi’s political spread through Europe. but more to do with the man’s personal hatred for Adolf Hitler and his plan to collect all of the fine art in Europe. when Hitler himself was such a mediocre artist. The build-Working from the details of the story and a knowledge of the time period. we have recreated the scene at Putsch Racing. Not only with a replica of the motorcycle that would have been the center point of the story. but part of the storyline and scene with the characters down to the wine cellar. the clothing. and the weapons. We refer to the motorcycle simply as the “Aristo-cad”. Upon closer examination and after noticing the Browning . 30 caliber machine guns and ammo chains (which first appeared in to the world in 1919). your eye is attracted to other details. You will notice the gun sight from a World War 1 Sopwith Camel Biplane mounted on a hand-formed stalk for the rider while in a full speed tuck. As the rider is rocketing down the narrow roads of pre-war Europe. a quick glance down will account for engine revs by a chronometric tachometer as well as the time by a hunter-cased pocket watch; when you open the protective cover. a small window will reveal the beauty of the turn of the century porcelain face from Tiffany and Company. One would think two machine guns would be enough for a motorcycle. but sometimes an attack requires quiet precision. Mounted atop of the fuel tank next to the Monza style quick flip fuel cap are two brass-handled English fighting daggers. The daggers' black leather sheaths are secured by brass rivets to English equestrian leather straps that solidly position them in quick reach for the rider. The straps are also complimented by the black belt that cinches down the fuel tank with a simple. but sinister looking. brass hook. As this motorcycle was used the cover of darkness and the country roads of Europe. you will notice that the amber headlight is protected from debris by a wire screen and is masked top and bottom to be less visible from the air or from a valley.
As a last note. one will notice that the pistols held by the models are the weapons of a German officer and what would have been used to frame the coup as an inside German job. Those being recognized as a World War 1 Luger and a Walther PPK which was designed in 1929 and issued in 1935. Clearly a new weapon for the time likely to have been owned by the highest ranking German political and military figures.
The other details of this motorcycle are virtually innumerous and range from the patina’d English number plate to the machine turned mechanical oil pressure gauge and the hand-aged leather of the seat and tool bag. These being aged with a combination of jet turbine oil and trade secrete blends to give it the look of the decades gone by. Aesthetics and historical details were just as important to this build as was its functionality. This Triumph engine retains its street drivability. but has been tuned with its high mount scrambler-esque racing exhaust and brass screen protected airflow though the polished aluminum intake trumpets. Lastly. the machine guns in fact are operational and fire blanks. The concussion and muzzle flash is just as a real round would be and the guns fire by utilizing a complex on-board system of compressed oxygen and propane controlled by computer through electronic solenoids and ignited in a combustion chamber at the same cadence of actual fire. To make a long winded story short. the motorcycle is ridable and very aggressive to boot. just as it had to have been in the story. The concept-As for the credibility of this historical story. it is as fabricated as is the motorcycle. Simply put. it is made up.
At Putsch Racing. history is taken very seriously as it applies to high-end restorations and the history of technology. Take that interest and combine it with the ability to build prototype vehicles and suddenly a custom car or motorcycle created at Putsch Racing leaves the world of cafe’ racers. race cars. or hot rods far behind and dives into the world of alternate history. Harley riders may think they have the meanest machine on Earth. but they should seriously reconsider that thought. By what seems to be only explained by travel through a theoretical wormhole. an aggressively sinister and sophisticated black Triumph from another time has been unleashed on the world in 2015.
