The Time has come to sell my beloved 2006 Triumph Tiger 955i. referred to as the Girlie tiger in the tiger community. I bought it from the original owner in 2011 with 6900 miles. I have traveled and seen a lot of beautiful country side. In the time that I have owned it I have added many items to make it more comfortable and dependable. It has proven reliable and very enjoyable for me but my beloved wife has not felt the same way about it as a passenger so we got something more comfortable for the two of us since we ride a lot together. Happy Wife Happy Life.
As you can see and verify I have performed many Farkles that added to the value of this bike through our time together. The following is a list of the items to the best of my memory.
It has a custom seat for the rider and Pillion/Passenger
It has heated Grips
Rox brand handle bar risers
European headlight switch so you can turn off the lights and save the batter if it was weak. The current battery is an AGM battery with about a year on it.
LED instrument lights and warning lights. I purchased these from Super Bright LED on line.
It has a 12 Volt auxiliary outlet and a red LED clock. voltage and temp gauge in the place where the original clock was. I felt it was better use of the space.
It has a RAM mount in the center of the dash with a solid reinforcement in side the dash.
I have mounted a combination of MADSTAD and CEE Baileys windscreen and modified the MADSTAD screen at the tops and edges to through the air up over my head. works great.
I added some stabilizer copper rods to stabilize the windscreen area a bit from the force of the wind. the original fairing wasn't design for this much windscreen so it needed some help.
I added CEE BAILEYS headlight protective covers to prevent rocks from breaking the glass headlight assemblies.
As owners of these bikes know the lighting was not all that great from the factory. I added a pair of 30 Watt LED Auxiliary lights connected to the high beam circuit and LED driving lights on the forks to add in visibility/conspicuity wired in to the driving light circuit. both these circuits are controlled by the headlight switch on the right hand switch gear.
The turn signals and tail lights are LED as well. the tail light is a super bright LED assembly modified to fit the housing. its very bright when the stop light is applied.
The turn signal flasher has been replaced to work with the LED lights. no silly resistors installed.
I installed some home made radiator and oil cooler grills using foam to prevent the metal wire from cutting into the radiators. they have worked very well.
I installed an Auxiliary fuse box under the seat to control the addition circuits.
It has lowered foot pegs made by a Tiger enthusiast named Mustang the work great and are very strong.
It has a factory Triumph Tank Bag. although I will admit it been in the sun and is faded but it works great. I replace the vinyl map pocket cover so you can see though it.
It has MAYER ATV Aluminum hand guards with large black wind deflectors and custom handle bar mitts to keep the cold off your hands when it get very cold.
It comes with HAPPY TRAILS Pannier racks and real PELICAN CASE boxes mounted securely and a no name top box with keys on them to keep your stuff safe.
I installed a DELKAVIC slip on muffler and mid pipe to add some growl.
I have modified the air box into a two stage filtering system. first I added a foam prefilter on the air inlet then a three level ITG air filter. this keeps the air clean going in and still breaths well.
I have changed the oil every 6000 miles and checked the valves three times which most were in spec or just one shim size off.
It has NGK IRIDIUM spark plugs. and a magnetic oil drain plug.
I have installed a set of RACETECH EMULATORS and SONIC front fork spring rated at . 95 kg/mm since I am a big guy and at times carry camping gear.
It also has a custom WILBERS 641 shock with preload adjustment and high and low speed compression adjustment and rebound adjustment.
I have also made a permanent fix of the only real problem these bikes have. the charging system. If not resolved these bike can burn up stators and regulators. After talking with industry experts. it was determined that there is no where enough cooling of the factory 480 watt stator. I have added a hard line from the outlet of the engine oil cooler to the left engine cover and sprayed oil directly onto the stator through a hold that is . 040" and added a series stator and mounted it on the left side of the engine to cool it. and added cooling fins to the stator cover. this has eliminated cooling troubles with the charging system now using heated grips. high beams and heated clothing is not an issue.
I have also added a custom chain oiler system that holds a half quart of oil and applies oil directly to the chain with a proper nylon application brush that was designed for this type of use. works great the chain is clean. lubed and stays in adjustment much longer. although if not adjusted correctly it does make a mess.
I have been running Michelin Pilot Road 4 Trial tires and the rear does need a tire. but I did get 12k miles and it still has about 2/32" left on it. great tires. The front is still in good shape.
I have installed a Kawasaki Ninja 650 front master cylinder and dual front brake lines to help with the common problem with spongy front breaks. nbsp;now they work great.
I installed the early Tiger rear brake pedal because it has a larger pad to step on. but I have the old factory one that goes with the bike.
I installed a steel shifter lever with a flexible tip just in case you catch it on something it wont break off the shifter. I have the old one that goes with the bike.
It also has TOURATECH engine crash bars which are no longer available and the TOURATECH sump guard that is designed correctly and doesn't attach to the engine. instead it mounts to a steel sub frame with a thick aluminum plate to protect the engine.
I have replaced the front and rear wheel bearings with ALL BALLS wheel bearings with MOBIL 1 Synthetic grease. not because they were work but because I wanted good bearings and excellent grease.
I changed the gearing from the factory 18-46 to 19-43 which improves the chain wear and drops the cruising engine speed. the bike still pulls very well for traveling or commuting.
I also added a Pyramid FENDA EXTENDA to the front fender.
It comes with a large supply of extra parts such as an extra factory gel seat with some wear around the corners. sprockets. factory hand guards. stock shifter and rear break lever. stock windshield with some scratches but it works. stock muffler. extra break pads. valve shims and valve compressor tool to insert and remove shims with out removing the cams. OBD2 communication cable to use with the free software ECUTUNE. Factory manual. Oil filter cup. and extra brand new Ricks Electrics stator. Extra regulator not that you need it. and any other parts I find when the buyer picks up the bike.
It has been dropped. it does have scratches. but you could easily jump on this bike with a new tire and ride coast to coast and back with out a single problem.
