1925 Triumph SD 550cc easy project with V5C

Here is a fantastic opportunity to own a very complete & original vintage Triumph. This is the Spring-Drive (S. D. ) model. It has been  restored already to a good standard but remains unfinished.

The engine turns OK and there is a good spark from the mag. I haven’t tried to start it. The gearbox selects all 3 gears nicely & neutral!

The bike comes with V5C registration document. registration BF 7231 (cannot be transferred to another vehicle). Frame number 343866 (nice clear genuine stamping on the headstock. Engine number is 105345COR. There is some dating information from the Triumph Owners Club and also the VMCC from which it was concluded that this is a 1926 model. manufactured in 1925.

The bike is of course pre-60 MOT exempt and registered as a historic vehicle for free road tax.

There are a couple of spares lists / maintenance manuals as well as a booklet by Peter Cornelius all about the model.

Cosmetically the bike has been restored to a good standard. The black paint work on the frame and other tinware is all good quality stove enamel. no signs of pitting. The tank has been enamelled and lined to a good standard also. Wheels are stoved without having been rebuilt. A bit of a short cut but they look ok. (some pitting visible). Most of the nickel plate is in good order.

The seat has been restored .

There is no front brake lever or control cable . there is no electrical wiring or rear light. But apart from these things the bike seems pretty well complete. that said I’m sure any self-respecting Vintage enthusiast would check the engine & gearbox over again to make sure.
