Description

Triumph Daytona 900. I bought this bike with the intention of tearing the fairing off & making a Speed Triple out of it. but I had a change of heart as the bike is simply too nice & original to vandalise in that way. so I've done anything that needed doing. taken it for a new MOT (which it passed with no advisories) & now i'm selling it to try & buy a Speed Triple. . . or decent Trident. Trident Sprint. Its a 1998 model - one of the last ones.  It's in virtually original condition - the only non standard part is the footrests. Presumably. the original ones wore out & these aftermarket ones were cheaper than original items. It even has the original grips still on there. The only other non original part is the Renthal hard anodised rear sprocket. Its done 29897 miles & this is backed up by a fist-full of MOT certificates. It's not been used regularly for years. covering less than 400 miles since its 2012 MOT. It had a ?564 service in July 2011 at 28229 miles. including valve clearance check & adjustment & carb syncronisation. Its done less than 1600 miles since that service. I've just changed the oil & filter. but nothing else needs doing. There is quite a bit of old service history from over the years. but not much from recent years. as it simply hasn't been on the road. New Pirelli Diablo Stradas were fitted prior to the MOT & so they have done about 20 miles. It starts. rides & stops absolutely beautifully. The engine. clutch & gearbox are all without fault & that lovely motor pulls like a train. The suspension is all good. All the adjusters work & nothing is sagging or lost its damping. The brakes are also very good & as they should be. The bodywork is all in exceptional condition as can be seen from the photos. There are no cracks in the plastics. no dents in the metal parts & barely a scratch on the paint. Obviously. there is the odd mark here & there. but nothing worth reporting. The screen is unscratched & all the paintwork has a deep shine. Now to be really really picky. The black chrome on the exhausts isn't perfect. One headlamp has a tiny chip in it. The paint on the fuel cap is a bit "patchy". The paint at the bottom of the clutch cover is slightly bubbly. The rear wheel has had a fresh coat of paint at some time & it isn't the best job ive ever seen. . . in all honesty. i'm trying hard to find much else. Faults. . . well. theres only one i can think of & not really an issue. There is no choke cable. The choke is operated on the carbs - just as simple as the normal lever. It has the original book pack with handbook & service book and two keys. Thats about it really. Study the pictures.  It really is that nice. These bikes are becoming increasingly rare in good. original. unmolested condition. They've already past the trough in their values & are on the up. so now is a good time to grab one - especially in black - the most sought after colour. I may be interested in some sort of deal. . . perhaps a part ex with something. but ideally would like a T300 series Triumph. . . but cash MY way. Let me know what you have. . . :-)
