Description

Rare find. matching frame and engine numbers 1957 TR5. The best of the all alloy preunit 500 engine design with big bearing cases and fully developed features before Triumph went to the unit construction engine in 1959. This rolling survivor appears to have never had the engine / gearbox tore down or rebuilt and still has the original red label K2FC Lucas magneto and generator. nbsp;making for a very original and correct starting point for restoration or custom build up. The engine appears to be in excellent condition with no broken fins or other damage. The engine and gearbox turn freely and there are no signs of it have ever being stored outside or exposed to weather. I took the pushrods out many years ago when I bought it and was able to see through the spark plug hole that the pistons are still standard size! This TR5 came with a special order wide ratio gearbox installed at the factory as new and I had this verified through factory build records in England with the help of Wes Mr. Four Aces Cycle Shop. Top of gearbox has the W stamp for wide ratio. The primary cover shows some nicks and scratches that probably came from being used as a scrambler in it's early years before going custom. I don't think it has been run or ridden since the 1970's. The forks are not original. the bars have new chrome. The frame has some extra holes drilled and will probably need a little work but is very restorable since there are no modifications to it. The numbers on the frame and engine are a correct match and I have a current CA title for it with a non op registration as a 1957 so there are no back fees and paperwork will be a breeze! Forced to sell to fund a big project. stay tuned to my other auctions for the next couple weeks because I have some very neat period custom competition parts that I collected specifically for this bike that I will be selling after this like the gas tank and fender shown in the last picture that are NOT included in this auction but will be listed in the coming week. Buyer to arrange shipping. I will hold for a reasonable time and help load it.
