Up for auction is a numbers matching 1964 Triumph Bonneville. This Triumph was turned into a Bobber and had a Morgo 750 Big Bore kit installed in 1973! A real, riginal hardtail - not a modern copy.
The quality of the workmanship put into this hardtail is second to none, ith absolutely no visible weld marks. It's a very heavy duty construction, ot like anything I have seen in a modern conversion. The freshly rebuilt, umbers matching engine has a Morgo 750 piston/big bore kit with a 'Jomo #15' grind cam and perfectly timed valves, aking this bike shockingly fast, ut never raced/abused. The paint is original to the 1973 work that was done, omplete with hand pin striping typical of that era and has been clear coated recently to preserve it. It has a few chips and scratches as you would imagine, ut is still in very good condition. It has the original front forks, rake assembly and wheel (and rear wheel) that it came with from the factory. Hand bent straight pipes, little crude but period correct. In fact, early everything on this motorcycle is from the 60's or early 70's. This Triumph is a true time capsule that starts on the 1st (or 2nd) kick. It has been owned by 3 mature collectors since 1973 and has been garaged or in climate controlled storage when not in use. This bike is a Driver not a Trailer Queen.
Of course some things could not remain original after 51 years and include:
- Top end, arburetors and the electrical system were recently rebuilt approximately 18 months / 250 miles ago. I've included pictures from my Triumph specialists shop to verify this fact.
- All seals/rubber bushings replaced
- Tires - Front getting a little dry from being in storage and will need to be replaced within a year
- Seat was changed within the last 10 years - could use a new one with a little more style
- Handlebars have been changed, ut retain all of the original controls - period correct handlebars are easy to find
- Headlight and Taillight are modern custom pieces
- NGK Electronic Ignition and Battery was added
- Rubber foot pegs were replaced with a custom chrome set - original rubber sets are available
