Seldom has a name been so iconic as Triumph’s Bonneville, irst introduced in 1959. Named for the famous Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, ome to innumerable speed runs and records, he original T100 Bonneville commemorated a 193.3 mph record set in 1955 by Johnny Allen on a methanol-fueled Triumph streamliner. The first Bonneville was a 650 cc parallel twin, configuration shared by all its namesakes, hough displacement is now nearly 50 percent larger. From the beginning, he Bonneville offered outstanding performance and excellent value. Successive generations of T120 and T140 Bonnevilles survived the company’s ups and downs through 1983.
In 2006, ritish fashion designer Paul Smith was commissioned to style a series of special Bonnevilles, rom which two designs were chosen for limited production. Designated “Multi Union” and “Live Fast,” each was built in a limited edition of 50 bikes, rder books being closed when that quantity was reached. The Multi Union featured a stylized Union Jack motif and the Live Fast a kaleidoscope of colors.
Number 50 of a mere 50 produced, his 2006 Triumph T100 Bonneville features the smooth 865 cc powerplant. It became an instant icon due to its custom factory livery from the acclaimed designer. This bike is still in the original crate from Triumph.
