CHEAPER  MACHINE IN PART EXCHANGE Mighty and highly regarded 1200cc tourer which has enjoyed just single  owner from new . Only 19. 00 miles has been recorded and. hence it is in good cosmetic order for a bike of this age. Cosmetics: Due to low mileage. there is below average corrosion . There are a number of paint chips on the petrol tank which could be touched in better . Engine finish looks good. General bodywork is good. The right panel did have some scratches but these have been made good with colour match paint. Wheel paint is good. History: The bike has been off the road for many months after it lost its spark due to a faulty CDI unit. The CDI unit was replaced at least once. if not twice and after a few hundred miles the problem recurred. As repair via a main dealer was uneconomic . further attempts were abandoned. Apart from the CDI unit. available it seems on ebay for £100- £150 . we understood one or more coils had also failed. The bike is all together but some fairing fasteners etc are not fully tightened The machine is therefore not running and offered for sale as a project. The electrical system is quite basic by today's standards so should not present much of a problem for a home mechanic to deal with. One theory is that the rectifier was allowing too much charge which burnt out the CDI but as the bike is not presently running. we cannot check this. Worth a look at Triumph forums for any history of similar problems. Once sorted. these machines make supreme tourers. NOTE THAT IF WE CANNOT ACHIEVE THIS PRICE.
