This auction is for my 1976 Triumph Trident T160V which has 13. 00 miles on the clock and was registered in December 1976 making it a very late model registered in the UK and not an import. I do not know if the mileage is genuine and although I suspect it is I have no proof so please take the mileage as unverified. I've had this bike for a few years now and it came from a shed in Canterbury where it had lain untouched for many years. The previous owner told me he'd had the engine rebuilt by Hughie Hancox but there is no paperwork to back this up so I am mentioning it in passing only and not as a fact. After cleaning the carbs. servicing the engine including the tappets. changing the air and engine filters plus the oils in the engine and gearbox. replacing the rear brake master cylinder with a stainless one. putting on a new battery. drive chain and various other bits which needed doing the engine ran well and I put it on the road. Unfortunately my work takes me away from home most of the time and the Trident got hardly any use. ? I even lent it to a friend to put some miles on it but he?ˆ™s also busy with work and only managed less than 200 miles in the last couple of years. So I've made the decision to sell the old girl and let someone else have it who will actually be able to give it the use it deserves and enjoy it. The bike is in good condition but the paintwork has become a bit tired and the photo?ˆ™s do make it look better than it is. Someone in the past has hand painted some parts such as the engine plates and the paintwork on the tank has crazed. I?ˆ™m not sure if the tank has been resprayed or not but I liked the look so it didn't bother me. This machine has been standing under cover in my and my friend's garages and would really benefit from a thorough clean. It has been sprayed with WD40 to prevent corrosion and this has worked well. ? ? The fork gaiters will need replacing as they have rotted but these are an easy fix and can be bought from ebay for a few pounds. I have shown these in one of the photographs. The bike starts and runs well (I started it up last week after it had lain idle for a year) although after this amount of time and so little use I would recommend a good servicing is carried out. Like many triples there is a knack to starting it but easy once you know how and as is usual with these bikes the electric starter only starts the bike when it is warm. Both tyres are in very good condition. the chrome is good. there is no rot and the brake pads were renewed when I got it back on the road. naturally? I have the V5C in my name plus past tax discs. MoTs etc. There are no nasty knocking. whining or rumbling sounds from the engine/gearbox and the exhaust note is a noise to die for and sounds beautiful when opened up. ? The silencers look to be the originals but possibly are earlier replacements. For me. the exhaust noise along with the smooth engine and good handling make the bike a pleasure to ride. ? Currently there is no tax or MoT (it?ˆ™s on SORN) but apart from the gaiters (which could simply be removed for the MoT) I can?ˆ™t see any reason why it should not go straight through as all the electrics and brakes work and the bike is mechanically and structurally sound. I just don't have time to check it over thoroughly. service it and take it for its test. This bike can be ridden as it is. However with restored examples of T160Vs fetching in excess of £9. 00 (I know where there?ˆ™s one for sale at £10. 00) this would be a perfect project investment. As the bike has no tax or mot it will not be legal for someone to ride this home so a van or trailer will be needed to pick it up. I have a van and am happy to deliver at 80p per mile one way but will only be able to do this when work permits - within a few days of the end of the auction. It will of course be available for pick up any-time. I will only be home one day before the end of the auction so if you would like to view the bike you are very welcome but it will need to be on the weekend of the 25th/26th October. Please be aware that I am thinning my collection down and therefore don't need any cars. I pods. Nigerian hard luck tales. camels (one. two or even the rare three and four humped models). your sister. her friend or even both of them together in part exchange! ? Happy Bidding!
