Description

I bought this 1976 (reg OJF476P) T140V Bonneville just over two years ago when I was expecting a cousin from Canada to visit (he is a keen biker) but he hasn't made it over here yet. so it needs to go to make space. Matching engine and frame numbers. It had stood large unused since about 1991 when it was re-imported from USA. At that time I am told it had an engine rebuild. and the previous owner then put a few miles on it. I think he musty have had a new speedo because it only showed 503 miles when I bought it and is only on 683 miles now. That said it is in remarkably clean order as the photos show. with fixings still showing bright plating and even the rear sprocket looking nearly new. After buying it I re-commissioned it with new front and rear brake master cylinders. nbsp;calliper seals. oil/ filter change and a pair of new carbs. I have also had the front mudguard rechromed because it had a sight dent and the chrome was slightly pitting. There is some deterioration of the chrome on the wheel rims. There is a dent in the petrol tank as per the photos. and the paint on the tank could do with a refinish anyway (it has the appearance of dust having got into the final lacquer coating). MOT runs to early summer 2015. Taxed till end of 2014 but under new DVLA rules the new owner has to tax anew. The bike starts easily and runs well. I think it is still a little tight from its 1991 rebuild. but am no expert on this model. The clutch drags a bit making neutral selection tricky (worst when cold) so I think it must need some adjustment. When new it had a USA style tank in blue/ silver. I have a suitable original UK made tank that I have relined and have bought the full paints/ lacquer set (apart from the gold for the lining) to paint it. available by separate negotiation if required. The V5 document still shows it as blue/ silver. I met with the man who had it since 1991 so have some information on its history. He said that he had changed the petrol tank to the UK shape. had the motor sorted by Dan Force Engineering and then only ridden it for a short while before storing it in a dry environment. I have his contact details still.  He then sold it through an antique deaIer in Ashbourne who has the foresight to put classic bikes in his shop window among the other antiques (my type of antique dealer !) and I walked by and saw it. I try to describe items as accurately as I can. but with a classic bike I can only describe what I see. what I have been told and what I know from riding it. It is therefore advisable to come and view before bidding as no guarantee is offered. Before a test ride. I would need proof of identity. proof of insurance and your car keys. having had a sad experience of a bike being stolen on a test ride in the past. Contact me on 0778 9995777. I can deliver once payment made in full up to about 100miles distant by trailer at a cost of 30p per mile travelled from Solihull. so if you are 50 miles away. nbsp;cat would be 100mils x 30p = £30If you collect I suggest a £200 initial payment at end of auction and the balance on collection.
