This lovely old 1979 Triumph T140D 750 Bonneville Special has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life ?ˆ“ the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to machinery than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 3929 miles and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its boyish good looks. PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES. As you can see this bike is very nearly complete missing just the Ignition key. R/h mirror & indicators. BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS. The bike is every bit as nice as it looks here but what is original & correct we don't know! - Luckily you British bike aficianados usually know exactly what you're looking at. The cast wheels are straight with working brakes & decent tyres. Forks & yokes look straight with good chrome. Mudguards are both solid & tidy. Tail light assy is good as are the headlight & hangers. Instruments & switches look ok. Fuel tank & side panels are tidy & tank is clean inside. Carburetors are free sliding off the twist grip. 2:1 Exhaust system is solid. Seat is in good condition throughout. Chain guard is tidy. Shox are damping fine. The engine is cosmetically very clean. it turns over nicely off the kick starter ?ˆ“ sounds/feels great & has compression ?ˆ“ When we bypassed the ignition. hooked it up to a good battery & fed it fresh fuel it starts & runs. The bike is currently unregistered. The registration process is reasonably uncomplicated.

We have not got the American Title (Registration Document). we have only got the certificates from Customs & Excise to prove we have paid VAT & duty. these will be provided with the bike with the official V55/5 forms for 1st registration application.

REGISTRATION

1. You need to get the bike MOT?ˆ™d.

2. You need to prove the year of manufacture. Phone North Leicester Motorcycles on 01530 263381 with the frame & engine Numbers. for a small fee they will send you a letter confirming the age.

3. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number.

4. Post this to the DVLA who will charge you ??55 for the 1st registration & the current amount for the road tax.

5. The DVLA will post you your age related registration number.
