Description

Here is my beautifully restored and genuine 1961 Triumph Thunderbird 650. This bike ticks all the boxes - Original matching numbers. original buff log book. original transferrable registration number. original tinware. restored using the best parts. Paint professionally applied. The bike is factory fresh and has just 40 miles since the rebuild. It starts easily. runs well and pulls hard. It just needs the transfers applying! This is possibly the finest duplex frame Thunderbird you will see anywhere. I bought this bike part-restored a year ago and enjoyed finishing it off. The engine and box had already been professionally rebuilt and the frame was painted. All of original parts were available and have been used where possible. Where not. the best quality correct parts have been fitted. The engine and frame numbers match the buff log book so are the original items.  New parts include:LoomBars levers. throttle and switchesAll chrome parts including tank badges. tank rack. etc etc. DampersChainsClutch including basket. plate and springsElectrical components at 12 Volt inc solid state voltage control / rectifier. coil. points. condenser. ammeter and new gel batteryFront and rear light unitsSeat and hingesFuel tapsFull-flow engine oil filter with disposable cartridge - mounted out of sightAll new fasteners throughout. 99% are stainless. Rebuilt parts include:Rebuilt wheels with english chrome rims and new correct tyresProfessionally refurbished original speedo preserving the mileageMain ignition / light switch refurbishedCarb including conversion to on-carb choke using new partsTank lined with latest ethanol resistant polymerThe bike was originally a Police model and saw service with Dorset Constabulary up to December 1967 when the buff log book shows it passing into private ownership. It has as you can see been rebuilt as a civilian bike but I have the original police tank which is fine condition and will go with the bike. It was difficult to find the civilian tank since this duplex / pre-unit model only last a couple of years. So - there it is. I am happy for any inspection to be carried out. I would recommend coming to see the bike. It is even better than the photos suggest. I am selling to fund the next project. I get more fun from building bikes than riding them. The bike is near Tiverton in Devon. close to J27 M5. It lives in a dry. de-humidified workshop. I am open to questions and offers and can be reached on 07774 886995 or roger@hmpi. co. ukUPDATE: I have as requested now uploaded a couple of pics of the under-seat area showing the electrical items and the inner mudguard.
