Triumph Tiger 900 1998. Good runner, for spares or repairs. Winter project.

 Good evening. & welcome to my auction. I am selling this bike for a friend of mine. It belonged to her husband. who sadly passed away earlier this year. He purchased the Tiger in September of last year. & used it regularly until April. Since which it has stood in his garage. We fitted a new Yuasa battery. & with some fresh fuel in the tank the bike started pretty readily. We also changed the oil & filter. The engine sounds pretty smooth. Some of these Triumph triples can sound like a 1970's Peugeot diesel minicab. that's done a million miles. This one doesn't. There is no history with the bike. & the speedo shows a little over 49. 000 miles. The engine pulls nicely. & the clutch & gears work as they should. The general condition of the bike is pretty good. It obviously has some scuffs & scrapes on it. & some general wear & tear. The offside hand guard is cracked. & there are some heated grips fitted that could do with replacement. They're disconnected at present. So I have no idea as to whether they work or not. The bike appears to have a new rear brake disc. & pads. The front brake discs look to be cast iron. & are in good condition. they are cleaning up nicely after a couple of quick spins around the block. The front tyre is pretty good. & the rear has a bit of usable life left in it. The chain has some minor surface corrosion from standing. but appeas to be ok. All the electrics work as they should. but the bike could do with a couple of new rear indicators. as the lenses have dropped off. Occasionally the bike doesn't start when it's on the stand. I suspect the sidestand switch is a bit dodgy. as it starts perfectly when the stand is up. Another couple of good points are; The bike is fitted with a pair of rather nice Stainless steel silencers which look to be pretty new. They sound pretty nice too. Most Tiger's of this vintage will have more holes in the silencers than you'll find in a net curtain. & secondhand replacements are not easy to get. The bike also has a Nonfango. (what a silly name) rack. top box & panniers that are in good condition. There's one key that fits them all. This bike would be ideal for someone who likes to do a little bit of twiddling. & needs a good excuse to get out into the shed. I don't think it would take much to get the bike through an MOT. though obviously I would recommend that the bike is given a thorough once over before going on the road. Unless of course you can send Charlize Theron in a very compliant mood. carrying a bag of gold bars with my name on it! Then I might think about it. The auction is open to UK bidders only.
