VERY RARE 1960 TRIUMPH T120 BONNEVILLE FULLY RESTORED. MATCHING NUMBERS! This is VIN# T120D2997. making it probably one of the very few remaining in such condition. It was restored in 2007 and is without doubt one of the very best early Bonneville's available today. This T120 Bonneville is a numbers matching motorbike. has undergone a frame-off restoration and is absolutely correct. 1960 was the first year the Bonneville appeared in its true sports form with sport fenders. a separate headlamp and full instrumentation. Unlike the first year 1959 Bonneville which retained the non-sporting style sheet metal of the lesser T110 touring model. this is a very rare Bonnie in that it is a late model US variant with a reinforced duplex frame. tachometer. discrete monoblock carbs and alloy front fender. The motorcycle originally came from the north-east USA - the story from the restorer is that he got it from the second owner who bought it from his buddy after they both rode it to Woodstock. It was running but sported a sixties paint job and deserved to be restored. The bike was completely disassembled. inspected and anything that needed to be replaced. re-machined. rebuilt or re-chromed was done. The collectivity and rarity of this model dictated that everything must be correct down to new original tread pattern tyres made in England of course and Renold drive chain. Extensive research was conducted related to exact model specifications. this information gathered prior to the restoration process. making sure all the parts sourced and the work performed would be absolutely correct. There are many "experts" out there but they cannot be expected to know every detail of every bike especially variants out of England. The motorbike starts easily. runs. shifts. rides and stops great. It has proper oil pressure and volume. electrical charging. everything works as it should. What was done? Crank: polished journals reground to 0. 010" under. new bearings and new sludge trap plug Cylinders: bored 0. 030" over. new pistons and rings Cylinder Head: rebuilt with new valves and valve guides Transmission and Crankcase: bead blasted. new bearings. bushings and seals throughout Primary Drive: new primary chain. clutch plates and stator Magneto: reconditioned Carbs: completely rebuilt Wheels: trued and reconditioned Forks: new springs and seals Clocks: tachometer and speedometer (is the only part that is not absolutely correct - although it is a period correct instrument) reconditioned. new glass. bezels re-chromed Swing-arm bushings replaced new All new: Seat. exhaust and mufflers. Renold rear drive chain. Made in England tyres Avon S. M. MKII rear and Avon Speedmaster front. tubes. rim strips. tire clamps. all cables; headlamp battery. bulbs. rubber mounts. thousands in hardware. re-chroming. hoses. seals. gaskets. bushings. bearings and trim. etc. Paint: All surfaces to be painted were blasted etch primed followed by two part primer sealer. a three color base-coat. clear-coated and then buffed; the proper paint codes and scheme supplied by Don Hutchinson. I did not like the way the bike was shifting. so I took it to a local specialist and had some work done on the gearbox and also completely rebuilt the magneto. The cost of the work performed was $1. 41. 91. This work was done in August of 2009. It deserves to be shown and as life changes I'm also selling a 1968 T120 which is also a numbers matching example that has undergone a frame-off restoration. Since I have owned this motorcycle - the same specialist has completely gone through it to make sure every last nut and bolt are absolutely correct. the carburetors. transmission. brakes and magneto function seamlessly and are in perfect working order and absolutely as original. This motorcycle has been restored to a very high degree it is easy to ride. handles magnificently and can be ridden with confidence - and it should be ridden not just sit in a heated and insulated garage like it has these past 6 years - I've put a total of 217 miles on it since I bought it in 2008. I hold a clear WA title and - as normally happens - the authenticity of such a machine is questioned. I also hold an original 1970 title showing the same vin engine/frame number - this is the real thing. if you've been looking for an early Triumph Bonneville. this is arguably the finest machine available anywhere in the world.
