Description

I bought this bike in 2010 with a view to rebuilding it as I thought it was such a beautiful looking bike and as a late T140 with Electric Start. quite rare.   It is complete and in really nice condition but needs little engine work.   This is what the previous owner told me when I bought it.

This is one of the final 750 Bonnevilles to be manufactured - a 1982 model. T140ES (electric start). In late 2010. I started what was going to be a full mechanical and cosmetic restoration - it was stripped down to the crankshaft by the end of December.

Some background info:  This bike was a clean rider in good condition overall - no funny noises. etc - but it smoked out of the exhaust. What started out as a top end job. turned into a restoration project with the idea of making it look and ride like new again.

The "bad" :  - it was smoking. recommend a rebore and valve job/ recommend a new wiring harness (rough)/ recommend tires/ 1 broken fin on front of cylinder (hard to see when the exhaust pipes are on)/ it's down to the crankshaft - will need complete assembly!

The "good" :  - very nice paint on the fuel tank and sidecovers. repainted to original "smoked" Misty Red (kind of a Salmon/light red) - couple of small chips on the front edge beside the steering neck / stock Morris mags / belt drive primary / Norman Hyde oil cooler / stainless brake lines / electric starter (works great) / cosmetics not perfect. but very nice condition / brakes work. It's all there and well organized.

I have realized that after having the bike for 4 years and it still sitting in boxes. I'm not going to get to it anytime soon and it really should be back on the road.   So it's time to pass it along to someone who will rebuilt it and get it back on the road.   I think it will need a re-bore. maybe a re-hone and new rings. but that'll be up to you.   I'd probably check out the valve guides while it apart. but other than that it really needs very little.   Cosmetically I don't think it needs more than a good polish.   It's clean and stored in a series of Plastic totes all well organized.

It's the perfect color for a Christmas gift to yourself!

It was sold to me with a clear Oregon title. but I seem to have misplaced it. so unless I find it in the next week it will be sold with a CA DMV Bill of Sale only.

Some of the pictures show the Bike before it was disassembled.
