Up for sale is a 1959-style Chang Jiang 750 M1M motorcycle with sidecar. The background of Chang Jiang is fascinating and can be found here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chang_Jiang_(motorcycle)
The bike runs a 746cc air-cooled twin-cylinder side-valve four-stroke engine with 12-volt electric start. It has a four-speed gearbox with reverse and high-speed rear drive gears. The bike is located in Santa Barbara, alifornia and I welcome viewings. The bike weighs over 700lbs so I encourage local pickup, ut am happy to ship it at buyer’s cost and if the buyer makes all the arrangements.
History
I am selling on behalf of the first owner of the motorcycle. I bought it in person (along with one for myself) at the China Nanchang Aircraft Manufacturing Company factory in June 2002 when I was working nearby. I specified it in black with five red stars painted by the factory on the gas tank. I had the bike shipped to Los Angeles in several crates and built it upon arrival. Registration was simplified using the “SPCNS” designation with no model year as allowed by the California DMV for self-assembled vehicles. It is fully street legal with current CA plates, nd has a clean title in the owner’s name. Since purchase, t has been used sparingly. Due to its vintage appearance and sidecar, t gets a huge amount of positive attention, oth from bikers and non-bikers. It is being sold due to lack of use and garage space.
Cosmetic Condition
The bike is in good used condition with minor paint scratches and several larger chips, lus some rust on the pipes, ylinder heads, eft rear shock, heel spokes, ear-view mirror stalks and chrome turn signal pods. The chrome isn’t great quality from the factory and has some pitting. Keep in mind that these bikes were never concours, ven when new and the paint quality from the factory is not to the typical Western standard. I have tried to capture the major cosmetic issues in the photos. Other than these issues, he bike looks great with un-faded paint, range glass old-style turn signals, lean seats and reupholstered tonneu cover for the sidecar. Additional photos can be found here:

Mechanical Condition
The bike fires right up from cold, uns well and has no known mechanical issues. The carbs are PZ28s. There is a small oil leak from the gearbox, erhaps one drip per week. No other leaks. All electrical accessories (lights, orn, tarter) work properly and the battery is new. It tracks straight with the sidecar attached. The brakes work well enough for the relatively low speeds driven, ven with the weight of the sidecar and passenger. This is not a superbike by any stretch of the imagination, ut will cruise comfortably at 45-50mph on a level road. One of the best features of the bike is that it is so easy to work on and all parts are cheap and readily available from a wide variety of sources.
Other
