This very rare and much sought after tax exempt 1972 Yamaha R5C 350 has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 15795 miles and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its boyish good looks. PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES. As you can see this bike is not complete missing the Mirrors. rear brake plate. r/h tank badge. front indicators. battery. airbox lid – rubbers & filter. The bike has obviously stood a while so the tyres are perished. BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS. The bike is every bit as nice as it looks here. The wheels are straight with clean chrome rims. good hubs & front brake plate. Forks & yokes look straight with good chrome. Mudguards are both solid but slightly pitted. Tail light assy is good as are the headlight & hangers. Instruments are tidy but bases are pitted. Fuel tank is dented but oil tank & side panel are nice. Carburetors are free sliding off the twist grip. Exhausts are original & solid. Seat is in very good condition throughout. Chain guard is tidy. The engine is cosmetically very clean. it turns over nicely off the kick starter – sounds/feels great & has compression – When we hooked it up to a good battery & fed it a few squirts of ether it coughs & splutters but the carbs do need cleaning.

The bike is currently unregistered. The registration process is reasonably uncomplicated.

We HAVE NOT got the Certificate of title but we will provide proof that the VAT & Duty is paid on the NOVA system.

REGISTRATION

1. You need to get the bike MOT’d.

2. You need to prove the year of manufacture in writing. Phone Yamaha UK customer services on 01932 358000 with the Model. frame & engine Numbers for a small fee they will send you a letter confirming the age.

3. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number.

4. Send all this paper work to the DVLA. who will charge you ?55 for the 1st registration & the current amount for the road tax.

5. The DVLA will send you your age related registration number.
