This very rare and much sought after tax exempt 1970 Yamaha DS6 250 Super Sport has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 6415 miles and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its boyish good looks. PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES. As you can see this bike is not complete BUT. This is a cracking start to a classic restoration project. The wheels are very clean with good hubs & brake plates. Forks & yokes look straight with good shrouds. Mudguards are both solid. Tail light bracket is good as are the headlight hangers. Fuel tank has a few dents but is squeaky clean inside. Carburetors are free sliding off the twist grip. Exhausts are original & solid. Seat is in very good condition but cover is punctured. Chain guard is tidy. Sadly the engine is siezed but hopefully it will just be with standing – obviously a bike of this age has done a great deal of standing around!!! but we haven't inspected the engine externally or internally. The bike is currently unregistered. The registration process is reasonably uncomplicated.

We HAVE NOT got the Certificate of title but we will provide proof that the VAT & Duty is paid on the NOVA system.

REGISTRATION

1. You need to get the bike MOT’d.

2. You need to prove the year of manufacture in writing. Phone Yamaha UK customer services on 01932 358000 with the Model. frame & engine Numbers for a small fee they will send you a letter confirming the age.

3. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number.

4. Send all this paper work to the DVLA. who will charge you ?55 for the 1st registration & the current amount for the road tax.

5. The DVLA will send you your age related registration number.
