1987 Suzuki RG250 Gamma Mk3 - restoration project
Direct from Japan. this rare Mk3 model RG250 Gamma is the perfect base for a first class restoration. Having covered only 8. 60 kilometers (= 5. 19 miles) the bike is about as original an example as you are likely to find. Comes with genuine complete tool kit and still wears the original tyres - though they have long since perished and split. The tank is rust free and hasn't had fuel in it for a very long time. One Suzuki key fits all locks - ignition. petrol cap and seat hump. There are a few light scratches on the left hand side (knuckle guard. mudguard and bellypan). where it looks to have fallen off the stand or at very low speed. You can just make it out in the photos. The rest of the bodywork is pretty good considering it being 28 years old.
The bike is sold as needing modest restoration. offering a great way for the average man to still buy an affordable two stroke from the 1980s. It's rare to find 'genuinely original' bikes these days. as most have been thrashed. modified or partly restored with varying degrees of success. Doing the work yourself is not only enjoyable. but gives you the confidence all the important parts have been replaced. When you buy someone else’s restoration. you are never quite sure.
Remember this bike has been in storage and unused for 20+ years. so there is rust and oxidisation on nuts. bolts and aluminium parts. The black paint on the engine covers will need a strip down and repaint. as will the wheels. The engine turns over nicely on the kick start. but we haven't had the bike running. As it's been stood for so long. the carbs will need flushing out first.
Why spend your time watching meaningless TV. when you can while away a few hours in the workshop/garage each evening? It's rare to have a hobby you can make money from.
