1983 Yamaha XS650 Cream + Bronze Bratstyle Bobber, Cruiser, Chopper, MOT'D

This 1983 Yamaha XS650 started of life as a tatty looking standard example. with rusted chrome. a couple of missing parts and a lack of attention for a few years. It has now been transformed into a custom ‘Brat Style’ bobber. The bike was originally from the United states and was imported into the UK in 1995. the previous owner to myself had owned it from 1998 to 2013.

The engine has been upgraded with a Boyer Brandsden Micro Power electronic ignition system. fitted with a custom made set of exhaust headers designed to follow the contour of the frame. and a re-jetted carb to ensure a perfect ride.

The suspension has been upgraded with rebuilt forks fitted with progressive springs. and custom made Hagon rear shock absorbers. The ride is firm but not harsh.

The frame has been painted in a one off matt finish bronze and all of the other parts powder coated satin black.

The rear lights are something quite special. the indicators. brake and taillight are all combined into the single spearheaded unit mounted above the rear shocks. making the rear of the bike tidy and uncluttered.

The tank started life as an original XS650 tank. but now benefits from being de-seamed and fitted with a custom filler neck and cap. The rear mudguard tightly hugs the rear wheel and is supported by hand crafted tig welded struts.

The wiring loom and electrics have been fully re-wired. the handlebar switches have been upgraded to modern genuine Yamaha switches. fitted with a brand new battery so both the electric start and the kickstart can be used. The original bulky guages were replaced with a small stainless steel speedo. Original mileage on the clocks was 13. 214 miles.

The XS has a brand new brake master cylinder. custom braided hose. rebuilt front caliper with new stainless steel piston.
