1973 Yamaha TX650 - Low mileage project bike, disassembled XS 650 XS650 Original

1973 Yamaha XS 650 Motorcycle. All Original. PLEASE NOTE - THE BIKE IS CURRENTLY DISASSEMBLED. I start working on this as a restoration project back in 2011 and moved half way through. Everything was boxed up and hasn't been touched since. Includes a full gasket set. (2) pushrod oil seals (in case one gets messed up during installation). and a clutch basket holding tool. The bike has a clean and clear PA title in my name. I have the key to the ignition. The good: Bike is all original. The blue tank. headlight. and side covers are in pretty good condition considering their age. Motor number matches the frame number: S650-210711 (see pics). It has the decompression lever on the lefthand cylinder for aid in starting it. I did have it running briefly when I first purchased it but it ran rough and the carbs needed to be cleaned more thoroughly. Once I confirmed the motor operational. I started the tear down to do the restoration. The bad: I tore the motor down to install the new gaskets and in the process of putting it back together I snapped one of the piston rings on the left cylinder. I put everything back together (due to moving) but it will need to be taken back apart and new rings put in one of the cylinders. The jugs look pretty good. The only parts that I know are missing are: turn signals. air filters. and I removed the mufflers for a bobber project as I think there were aftermarket anyway. The seat needs to be recovered. I took a bunch of pictures of all the parts. A lot of the stuff is in zip lock bags that are clearly labeled. or the part is labeled with blue tape. The pushrod. clutch lever. and a couple of other parts are wrapped in paper towels so they wouldn't get scratched. The blue tape on the mirror surfaces is so they will not get scratched. they are not broken. I could only upload 24 pictures for the auction but have tons more that I can email to you. Majority of the stuff is clearly labeled as I had intended on putting everything back together. The motor is clean. The frame is clean and is not bent. Front fender looks pretty good. minimal dents. Rear fender has a couple dents in in. Forks are straight and look great although seals and dust boots should be replaced due age. Rear rim is very nice and chrome looks good. It looks like the front rim has been touched up with primer or spray paint. Both tires are old are should be replaced but do hold air. Gas tank. side cover. and headlight and brackets look great for their age. Gas tank as a little stain on left side from leaky gas. The title shows 11. 85 miles as I could not remember the exact mileage when I did the title transfer but I new it was under 12k so I wrote down a conservative number. I purchased the bike in May 2011. The previous owner passed away in 97 and I bought it from his son who said it had sat ever since then. Pretty much all rubber components should be inspected and replaced as necessary. I would prefer to sell the bike whole to some one that will take the time to put it all back together. However if the reserve price is not met I would be willing to start parting it out as it is already taken apart. Its a nice bike I just lost interest and want the space and money so it is up for sale. The picture of the bike assembled was from the day I purchased it in 2011.
