YAMAHA XT500 E 1978, 9MONTHS MOT.

Hi. this sale is for my XT500 that i have owned for about fourteen years. The bike is standard except for the wide 18" Morad rims which take modern rubber.

The good bits ;

Frame and swingarm were powdercoated about ten years ago (showing a few scuffs and chips).

The wheels have been rebuilt front and rear with Morad alluminium rims and stainless spokes. They have modern low profile tyres fitted (front 110/70-18. rear 130/70-18) and are preety much new.

The handlebars are a set of Renthal Fatbars and clamps. (Original chrome bars and clamps are included with the sale).

The bike comes with two exhaust systems. the original steel item with all the heat sheilds and a big bore stainless system with a torque insert. (LOUD!).

The original chainguard is included in the sale (will not fit with current wide tyre).

The bike had a new (replica) wiring loom last year along with a new regulator.

The engine in the bike at present is a spare i bought from a certain bike breakers in staffordshire. this was rebored and fitted with new camchain but has developed a bit of a rattle. The original engine was stripped down ready to rebuild. It has had a proffesional welding repair to recreate a damaged sprocket cover mount. and the crankshaft is currently away with SEP of Kegworth for overhaul. This is included in the sale).

Lots of new and secondhand spares included in the sale including New points. gaskets. gearbox output shaft. Another bottom end/ gearbox. Basically anything I have for the XT is included in the sale.

The bad bits;

As mentioned the current fitted engine rattles a bit.

The tank has a few dents on it (most of these match dents on my body from green laning about ten years ago). The tank was powdercoated white prior to this so has remained intact.

Basically this is a tidy bike that does not look 37 years old. Bike is located near Chester.
