Yamaha YZ125 '92 Model. Super Evo Spares or Repairs, Restoration Project.

Yamaha YZ125. 1992 Model. Eligible for ‘Super Evo’ class.

Being offer for sale by auction as ‘Spares or Repairs’ project bike.

Runs and rides. a few simple fixes and ready to race.

Alternatively would make a lovely basis for a full restoration.

I will describe the bike as precise as I can in the following paragraphs. /p>

Frame. Subframe & Swingarm

Frame is straight. no rot.

Sub-frame is straight. again solid.

Swing-arm is straight and solid. usual wear and tear associated with off-road and competition use.

Suspension & Steering

Forks are straight and operational. stanchions are in good order. no pitting to chrome. slight weep from seals otherwise all good.

Slight play in headstock bearings.

Period correct aftermarket ‘Answer’ bars and clamps.

Yolks solid with usual wear and tear associated with off road  and competition use.

Rear shock operational. does what it should do.

Play in bottom linkage bush. requires replacement.

Wheels and Tyres

Front wheel – Alloy rim. spokes corroded but all present and straight. stock hub. Wheel is straight. no buckles or dings. Blue spoke sleeves.

Rear wheel – Alloy rim. spokes corroded but all present and straight. stock hub. Wheel is straight. no buckles or dings. Blue spoke sleeves.

Front tyre ok. rear tyre very worn. will require replacement.

Chain and Sprockets

Chain and sprockets a little tired. could do with replacement. Still working fine though.

Brakes

Front brake complete and intact. no leaks. is operational. disc has some wear.

Rear brake not currently operational. requires attention.

Tank. Seat. Panels and Fenders

Tank is solid. no leaks.

Seat base is solid. foam and cover in good order.

All plastics are in decent condition.

Electrics

All electrics and wiring intact and operational.

Engine & Gearbox

Kicks over and starts within a few stabs of the lever. Revs freely. no significant rattles or noises. Pulls hard. bike is FAST!

Selects all 6 gears freely and positively and find neutral without issue.

Radiator and pipework in good order. no leaks holds coolant fine.

Good solid stock expansion chamber in very good order. no rot. dings or damage.

FMF silencer. solid and in good condition.

Could do with a new clutch cable as the existing one has stretched beyond its full adjustment.

Conclusion

Overall a decent. honest machine. with a few easy. minor fixes ready to race or ride and enjoy.

Alternatively would make a lovely basis for a restoration.
