This much sought after 1981 Yamaha XS650SH Special has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to machinery than ours. PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES. As you can see this bike has got a few bits missing. a few bits damaged/broken. a few bits rusty/corroded. a few bits non standard & a few bits are very nice indeed. The wheels are straight with good rear brake plate. disc. caliper & working master cylinder. Forks & yokes look straight with good chrome. Mudguards are both solid & tidy. Tail light assy is good as are the headlight & hangers. Carburetors are free sliding off the twist grip. Exhaust system is original & feels solid. The engine is cosmetically quite clean. it turns over nicely off the kick starter & displays compression - When we hooked it up to a good battery & fed it fresh fuel it starts & runs but the carbs do need a clean. The bike is currently unregistered. The registration process is reasonably uncomplicated.

We HAVE NOT got the Certificate of title but we will provide proof that the VAT & Duty is paid on the NOVA system.

REGISTRATION

1. You need to get the bike MOT’d.

2. You need to prove the year of manufacture in writing. Phone Yamaha UK customer services on 01932 358000 with the Model. frame & engine Numbers for a small fee they will send you a letter confirming the age.

3. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number.

4. Send all this paper work to the DVLA. who will charge you ?55 for the 1st registration & the current amount for the road tax.

5. The DVLA will send you your age related registration number.
