Description

Up for auction is my 1980 Yamaha XS650 with street tracker and cafe racer cred. do it how you want. The bike is also advertised for sale locally. I reserve the right to end the auction early. This is a solid ‘rider’ bike not a trailer queen. I ride my bikes and thus anything done takes that into account. Mechanicals are perfect. the cosmetics an 8. 5 out of 10. The bike was stripped to the bare frame. all non essential brackets removed then painted. I did a bunch of repairs and modifications during the rebuild process; notable upgrades and repairs include a Mikes XS stock bore big fin cylinder. new cam chain and guides. valves lapped. Mikes XS heavy duty clutch springs and new clutch plates. hydraulic clutch conversion. PAMCO ignition with e-advancer. 650 Central Mikunis and pod filters. front forks rebuilt. most of the bolts have been replaced with stainless because I hate rust. I had one hell of a time finding the lower shock bolts! See below for a list of the various bits and pieces. The reason it gets an 8. 5 out of 10 on cosmetics is there are still some odds and ends to be done; for instance the axles are perfectly serviceable but the chrome has pitted. the upper triple clamp was painted but the damn stuff peeled off. the calipers work great but the paint’s a little dull etc. The things left to do are typically of the ‘Sunday afternoon’ variety. The pictures show the bike with and without a fairing. I switch off as desired and the fairing does go with the bike. I also have some clubman bars. some flattrack bars and a DT400 fuel tank which can go with the bike if you want (the bars are free. the tank is not). The bike runs great and is very reliable. I really like this bike. I’m selling it for health reasons. It is currently licensed and insured; this is not a ‘ran when parked’ type of thing. I will remove the tag before shipping. Shipping: all shipping costs to be paid by buyer. I can help with delivery in the Southeast US. i. e. meet you somewhere. If it would need to be shipped via truck. buyer will need to make their own arrangements and bears all associated costs/liability. If you prefer not to go the ‘Shipping Wars’ route I can build a really nice crate. no labor but buyer will pay for materials. last one I built to ship a bike was around $100 US. No affiliation. but in the past I have had good success with Forward Air and R&L Carriers. International buyers: I will crate the bike for cost of materials and can then deliver it to the Port of Charleston. SC. International buyer is responsible for all customs fees. duties etc. List of stuff I have done. I may have missed a few things. If so I apologize. It cannot be placed inside the crate no matter how well protected. If so. it's your responsibility to procure and install a battery. These bikes WILL NOT RUN without a battery. It will be shipped drained of fuel and oil for the same reason.
