YAMAHA FS1-E "SS"1973 (L-REG)CANDY ORANGEFRAME #*394-000314*ENGINE #*394-000314*This moped was purchased by us in February 2013 in a complete and original condition. It was immediately stripped down to the frame. All salvageable original parts & components have been repaired. restored and re-finished including:-Frame & swing arm - repaired. shot blasted to bare metal and powder coated in satin black. All chrome-work has been stripped. repaired and re-chromed where possible or replaced with new or new old stock (NOS) genuine YAMAHA parts. All fasteners and fixings have been re-plated with bright zinc (BZP) or chrome as per the original factory finish where possible or replaced with new or new old stock (NOS) genuine YAMAHA parts. Engine crankcases have been vapour blastedWheel hubs. brake shoe holder plates and sprocket carrier have been vapour blasted and lightly polished to original factory finishWheels have been built using original OEM fit "Araya" rims with stainless steel custom made spokes. Tyres are genuine OEM "INOUE/IRC". The original YAMAHA FS1-E speedometer has been carefully opened and all components checked. restored or replaced where necessary. including re-chroming the casing. cleaning the dial face and re-setting to zero. The mechanism has been re-calibrated and lubricated and then the whole thing re-assembled. The front and rear mudguards are both new genuine YAMAHA parts. Seat base has been shot blasted and powder coated. the seat foam. cover and cover strip have been replaced with high quality after market items. All tinware paint was done by Andy Flinders @ Andy's Bike Services in Ilkeston (YAMAHA FS1-E paint specialists)Engine has been fully rebuilt by Paul @ Fizzy Doctor and all bearings and oil seals have been replaced. The cylinder is an early "FS1" 6hp 5-speed engine type with the larger porting for better performance (55-60 mph).  New kick-start and gear shift axles fitted. The engine has been run in during the FS1-E Owners Club Rally in August (see photos) and is ready to ride. Upgraded to 12v electrics and CDi electronic ignition for improved reliability and brighter lights for safer night riding.  Complete working pedal mechanism with original YAMAHA pedal cranks. New front (14T) and rear (39T) sprockets and D. I. D chain fittedPeriod style pressed aluminium yellow and black rear number plate (street legal)As you can see from all of the above work carried out. great attention to original detail has been the priority in this restoration as it is in all of our work.
