1977 Yamaha TT500

1977 Yamaha TT500 recently acquired from the original owner who purchased it new in May 1977. This is a quote from the original owner. "Best motorcycle I have ever owned. I have done everything with this thing. TT scrambles and short track racing in Michigan and California. Rode it on Barstow to Vegas run (twice). rode it in Baja. used it for a trail bike in the California desert. and for giggles on the dry lake beds. "The original owner decided a few years ago to restore the bike to the condition you see here. The frame was powder coated and the original tank was completely refurbished and repainted. New Progressive shocks were added. The forks were completely reconditioned with new seals. bushings and springs. New swing arm and steering head bearings (tapered roller) were installed along with new tires. brakes. wheel bearings. chain and sprockets. The original engine was completely gone through with a new rod. Wiseco piston and bore. new valves and cam chain. Megacycle camshaft and valve springs. new clutch plates. all new engine and gearbox bearings and seals etc. The build on this engine is virtually stock. It is not a wild hot rod. Also replaced were the fenders and side panels with high quality exact replica parts from England. The muffler is the original and was removed when new for an aftermarket unit. It was reinstalled after the restoration and even still has the baffle in it! There are some extras that go with the bike which include a Clarke plastic tank. a pair of new side panels. a ported head. an XT500 engine that ran but smoked and has some broken fins. some miscellaneous engine parts and the original shocks. The bike starts easy and runs great. The stock airbox is long gone and in its place is a K&N filter. It has maybe a couple hours backyard use since being redone and is probably as nice as you will find. I also have the original title. owners manual and service manual. I will be happy to deliver free of charge to Diamond Don's Vintage national in Jefferson. Tx. but the bike must be paid for within in a week of the auctions close.
