Description

1977 Yamaha RD400Choice of modern headlight/fairing combo with low rise handlebars or a traditional round headlight and shell with clubman bars. This sporty little beast is a barrel of fun to ride. Though. we have been taking it a little easy on her since she just had a fresh rebuild on the motor. We also upgraded the suspension. brakes. electronics and controls. Come to think of it. we either upgraded. replaced. or repaired everything on this baby! We wanted to build a unique and fun bike to ride while still maintaining some of what we consider true 'RD spirit'. With many custom pieces. not only does it run great but shes quite a bit lighter too. They definitely wont be able to keep up and only way they will be able to find you is to follow that little trail of blue two-stroke perfume down the road. She has been featured on several popular custom motorcycle sites such as Pipeburn. com. and the Yamaha Motors USA page. This is your chance to own a beautiful one of a kind bike. This bike was built with riding in mind. That being said. she would be just as happy sitting in your collection being admired as she would be screaming down the streets. As we always do for our shop builds. we will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Share our Strength. No Kid Hungry Campaign. A quick rundown of the build includes:-Fully rebuilt motor including a bore to 66mm making it a 425cc. with new pistons. rings. seals. bearings. and hardware-Cleaned and rebuilt carbs to work with the pod filters and new expansion chambers-Fresh tires-New braided stainless steel brake lines. new calipers. new pads. new Nissin master cylinder. cross drilled rotors-Fresh coat of Toreador Red paint. powder coated frame. custom tank pads and decals-One of a kind fiberglass seat with gel padding-New and relocated oil tank -Race Tech springs. seals. wipers. and adjustable preload on the forks-New Assault rear shocks-New Featherweight lithium battery-New digital gauge. controls. grips. levers. and rearsetsWe build and repair motorcycles for a living and this baby is more than just a new seat and some paint. Please view our blog for more photos and full details of the build. We made a couple of changes since the original photos were taken that you can see in the clubman pictures. the first was swapping out the pod filters for Uni foam filters. the second being moving the speed sensor and line to the right side of the front tire so the wire could run with the front brake line. *Some extras for the buyer include an extra set of keys. an extra set of spark plugs. some different jet sizes. an extra set of exhaust gaskets. a replacement bulb for the front turn signals (if you go with the modern fairing headlight). the manual for the Koso gauge. decals. a set of brake pads with anti chatter shims. and a set of anti vibration bar end weights. After you win the auction. I will contact you to see which headlight/ bars you would like and will make the necessary changes prior to shipping. **Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. You can use Uship to get shipping companies to bid on your transportation. I would recommend that you only use enclosed transport as open trailers leave the bike vulnerable to weather. rocks. etc. I will be happy to help out in any way that I can. including holding the bike for up to 30 days after payment is received if you need more time to make arrangements. I can also give some names of companies that I have used in the past with good results. ***Payment- Check. Money Order. and Cash will be accepted. You may also pay with Paypal or Credit card with a 2% surcharge. After the auction is closed I will get in touch with the winning bidder to make payment arrangements. A deposit of $800 is due via Paypal within 48 hrs and payment in full is due within 14 days of auction close. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!!
