Hey there urban commuters. week-end riders. and misfits. This a beautiful 1978 Yamaha XT 500 that has had a very interesting past. I purchased this from an elderly mustard seed farmer south of Brussels Belgium after it was ridden for the past 30 years as farm transportation. Now in his 70's the farmer was forced to buy a utv and the bike sat for the last 5 years in a shed. I found it for sale and chopped. de-tabbed. and rebuilt it into what you see today. The list of new parts is quite extensive and I will try to cover most. 1. Top end rebuild with plug and wire2. Rex's electronic ignition system with 12 volt conversion3. 14. 50 inch Progressive shocks with HD springs4. Dime City Cycles rear loop and brat seat5. 36mm Mikuni Round Slide Carb and filter5. 1 3/4 full exhaust with Dime City muffler6. Custom aluminum electronics storage7. Rebuilt de-compression system8. Updated 12 volt headlight and taillight assemble9. Aftermarket brake switch10. Crankcase breather filter11. Low profile mirrorsI built this as my daily commuter. and with just 10 miles of back roads to cover back and forth to work. it was the perfect choice. The original steel gas tank and carb had been destroyed by bad gas and corrosion so I swapped them out for a TT500 alloy tank and the Mikuni VM36. The tank does have 2 small dents on it. but there is no wrinkle. and after stripping it of paint. polishing. and petcock rebuild I can say that it is bullet proof! I have ridden it almost a year now but I need to fund my ironhead rebuild so this must sadly go. I am an American currently living in Belgium but I am very near a port and would be more than happy to assist in shipping. which I am more than knowledgable about. hence the ironhead. I can not make any claims. but depending on where you are living you can expect to pay anywhere from 600 to 800 usd to crate and ship. Please feel free to ask and questions about the bike. I will attempt to post a video of the bike running so look for that in either the pictures or a hotlink. Thanks again for your interest.
