This Buy Now/OBO listing is an excellent opportunity to get your hands on a really nice bike at an incredibly low price. I checked similar bikes. they all have a much higher mileage. Less than 20K miles on a bike like this is a joke. I wanted to keep the bike and my fianc?e loves her better than my Goldwing. but I have some health situation and need to get treatment. So the Yamaha is on the market. Buy it now for $4900. I shot a video of it some time ago to show how she fires up and to let you hear her 'voice'. See her on YouTube (about 1 minute). You are welcome to watch her!HISTORYI bought my Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe back in 2005 and crossed the US with her. rode her up and down the coast of California. up and down Florida. across the Mojave and Sonora deserts. in the mountains. I never had a single mechanical problem. It has been maintained scrupulously along its life. mostly by Greg Rice of Greg's Custom Cycle Works in Clearwater. FL. Its last check-up was done a few months ago (at around 19. 00 miles) by Roger. the owner and main mechanic at C&R Cycles in Tucson. He gave her a clean bill of health except for the cruise control electronic module which quit working when the power module was installed on the bike. I never replaced the cruise control but the next owner might want to do so because it's relaxing to have it on a long ride. (I just got a quote for it from a local shop: $330 + 1 hour labor. )Her paint is in excellent condition. she shows no rust other than around a few screws. The saddlebags show minor scuff marks. The front fork shows small corrosion spots that probably can be removed with some chemical. The radiator fairing in the front show small chips due to gravels and road grime. The photo showing the chips on the radiator fairing are taken from very close. they exaggerate the visual impression. She's been always garaged. never dropped. never in any kind of accident. She fires up on first try. but needs choke when weather is cold. Her motor is a V4. with short-course pistons. same type of motor as the Yamaha V-Max. Torque is nicely distributed and her ride is extremely smooth. This bike rides forever at 85 mph across TX. Very low vibrations. nice motor rumble. In my experience. she purrs best at around 70 mph. The aftermarket pipes give it more character than the stock pipes but they are not too loud. She is equipped with a drive shaft. no chain. no belt. no maintenance. White wall tires have plenty of thread. I only have 1 ignition key. GENERALAll Royal Star riders agree that this bike is extremely reliable. with very low maintenance requirements. In other words. she is very low-cost. contrary to Harleys. She is less expensive to maintain than my Honda GoldWing and she costs less in insurance. When you are on a budget. that's exactly the bike you want to have. Some bikers prefer the "Harley myth". I don't find fault with that but I just don't like the cost of maintaining a H-D. Her average fuel economy is about 34 mpg. Some tests peg it at 42 mpg. but I never got that mileage - maybe because of my riding habits and the power module that gives her this extra 'umph'. She's a low-rider. with a low center of gravity. a very wide seat and long. wide handlebars that will accommodate riders with shorter arms and shorter legs without compromising the comfort of taller riders. She comes with a tall windshield with lower-end protections. I rode through the rain. she holds her won perfectly and the windshield offers excellent protection. The windshield is a breeze to remove with the quick-release mechanism (much better than screws!). She also comes with a sissy bar. equipped with a quick release mechanism. Another thing I love on this bike: she has large. hard-case saddlebags. They are deeper and wider than those of the Harley Road King (I tested). and much roomier than the regular H-D style leather saddle bags. She has carburators and she is liquid-cooled. Even in the hot Sonoran desert. I've never had a temperature issue. Likewise. I have never had any altitude issue: she runs just as good at 8. 00 ft (fully tested at Flagstaff. AZ) as at sea level. The cabs were rejetted when the power module was installed. The Royal Star is a rather large bike: this makes her highly visible. especially with her passing lights. My creed is big bikes = high visibility = safety. The backseat has a comfortable padding. With the sissy bar. this ensures your passenger will ride comfortably. GOODIESOver $2. 00 in options and aftermarket parts: Straight pipes for a louder voice than stock (Value: $400 + $250 install)Power module to give it a little more 'umph' than the stock modelSissy bar (quick release)Full windshield (quick release)Thick K?ryakyn grips with pads (pads are slightly worn)Highway footpegs (great position on the highway. not too wide. not too high)Passing lamps (value: $400 + $250 installation) New battery (changed around 18. 00 miles - she only has 19. 29 miles). CONCLUSIONYou can buy yourself a large. very reliable cruiser bike which will give you and your passenger a very comfortable ride and years of good service at an extremely low cost. Everywhere I went. this bike turned heads and people loved its classic retro looks. People were also impressed with the size of the bike. I am selling because of costly health issues and I have 2 other bikes. including a GoldWing which became my daily commuter and long-distance rider in 2009.
