Description

You are looking at a very early Yamaha. One often sees a step-thru trail Honda but very seldom (if ever) one of these step-thru Yamaha's. How many folks even know such a bike exists. The Yamaha "Omaha Trail 50" is powered by a 55cc two-stroke motor and has a three-speed manual clutch - not an automatic clutch like most Hondas. It has 570 original miles. I have owned this bike for 17 years. having purchased it at Aurora Suzuki in Seattle in 1998. It was traded in by the original owner. The bike is completely unmolested. and never been apart and runs great. I know this bike well. and there is no indication that it even so much as fallen over. it still has its original tires too. While as complete as one might hope to ever find a little trail bike of this era. it is not perfect. There are two areas of imperfections: 1) At one point battery fluids drained down and there is some minor paint damage below the right side cover. 2) There is modest pitting on the rims and the muffler - but nowhere else. There is no body or physical damage at all. The bike overall is in "exceptional condition" and probably not one in 100 has survived as well as this one. The above are the only flaws on this little Yamaha that are even worth a passing mention. It is complete and needs nothing. It is ready to go. I have really liked having this little bike (even though I doubt I have put 100 miles on it since 1998). By the way. I forgot to mention it has an electric start. This works great. as does all the electrics. The bike comes with the original tool kit and the original chain extension to change to the larger sprocket. I have never had them installed and I don't feel this was ever done by the original owner either. It comes with an original shop manual and it even comes with the March 1963 Cycle World magazine with a write-up on this bike. In fact. the magazine article even pokes fun as to why it is called the "Omaha Trail 50" when it has a 55cc motor. Anyway. it has been a fun little bike for me. and will be a fun little bike for the next owner/collector. And should I sell it. nobody will be happier than my wife - as she will be thrilled to see it leave our TV room. Good luck . . . As a side note. I am selling a few other samples from my collection of bikes. Feel free to browse my other listings. Financial Details: A $500 nonrefundable deposit is due immediately after winning auction via PayPal and after that we can discuss whatever works best for you. As with any other seller.
