1982 Yamaha XJ550RJ SECA 550 in excellent used condition. The bike is mostly original with the exception of having had it's cowl and tank re-sprayed and graphic'd at some point. (there are paint code and formulation stickers under the seat. ) The tank badges are incorrect silver and have had additional holes drilled to fit them. (OEM originals are not available but there are gold badges to be had that will replace these with alteration. ) The bike currently has aftermarket grips and Superbike 'bars which suit the bike's sporting capabilities far better than the OEM high 'bars. (you can feel the front end in corners) but I have the originals and they will be included. The tires are new within the last two years and have less than 500 miles on them. The bike starts easily. idles smoothly and runs out great. All electrical systems. (including the volt meter and fuel level gauge) work properly. The bike handles extremely well and is very fun to ride in the twisties. The suspension and brakes are very good for the era. It is comfortable to ride alone or two-up with a very neutral seating position. Cosmetic condition is quite good overall but not perfect. There have been some touch-ups done on the front fender. the lower fork cases and on the seemed edges of the tank. The left sidecover has a crack up top; the right a missing piece around the upper rear grommet. The YAMAHA sticker on the tail section shows yellowing from sun. (this and the sidecovers are. I believe. in OEM paint. ) There is some paint damage to the front brake master cylinder and lever undoubtedly caused by a leak at some point 'though there is no sign of leaking now. The finish on the engine cases and the few chrome parts on the bike is very good. The right exhaust muffler has an area of swelling. (detailed in one of the pictures) common to machines having spent their life here in the high ambient humidity of the Pacific Northwest. The chrome on the exhaust system is quite nice and shows no external rust. I've looked at a few of these bikes over the last ten years and found them to be rather uncommon; nice examples particularly so. This bike is a three-owner example. has it's original Owner's Manual and toolkit as well as a clean. clear Title. Shipping. if necessary. will be entirely the responsibility of the purchaser but I will provide the names of several companies I have experience with.
