The 1000cc motor the 5 valve powerplant from the FZR that is retuned for sport touring duty. This bike is traditional Yamaha. with excellent fit and finish. These engines are near bulletproof. and she pulls like an electric motor. As the first mass-produced bike of the modern era with non-telescopic front suspension. the Yamaha GTS 1000 was an innovative machine that Yamaha hoped would trigger a brave new world of chassis design. The advantage of the forkless front end is that it separated the distinct elements of suspension and steering. Suspension was handled by a horizontal alloy beam leading from the front wheel hub to a pivot on the C-shaped aluminum Omega frame. The bike represented an attempt to bridge the gap between adrenaline-pumping sports machine and long-distance mile eater.
