1983 Yamaha XJ 750 Midnight Maxim

Item for sale is a 1983 Yamaha XJ750 Midnight Maxim. Have had this bike since high school. Kept regular maintenance on her. 6 years ago I put her down on the highway. Spent the winter putting her back together. This is the reason for the dents in the gas tank and the rebuilt forks. Ended up bending one of the forks and having a new one custom made by a machinist at the U of I and the insides repaired by Sportland of Champaign, L. The odometer unit is new to this bike and is about 4500 miles short of the original. Do not have the garage or the means to keep working on the bike and keeping up with maintenance. Second gear is starting to have some problems- when accelerating to go into 3rd will sputter and kick if accelerating to hard. No problems if you do not gun it. Otherwise runs great. Starts up like a champ even in cold weather. New battery as of Sept/Oct 2014. Regularly spends time on a trickle charger.
Would love to hold onto her, ut she probably would not be able to make the next move and I do not have the means or know how to diagnose the gear problem.
Also, omes with original owners manual and spare parts/ pieces from rebuild.
Other midnight maxim battery cover not shown but comes with the bike. Just took it off to show the battery.
Helmets, eather gloves, eather coat, rickle charger, addlebags and bike cover are negotiable with the listing.
