This bike was in covered storage almost 20 years. I got it from the 2nd owner and built it to race VMX.
The latest issue of VMX Magazine says 3rd gear starts were the norm with this bike and I was ready for some of that!
But at 62 yrs. oldwith worsening arthritisin my throttle hand, neeand back issues, need to pass the torch.
These bikes have the NOW power like a 4Stroke Thumper, ith the lighter weight of a 2 Stroke.
This year YZ 465 was one of the only bikes to consistently beat the 490 Maico's to the first corner!A 490 Maico will run you $3,000- $5,000 for a racer, uch more for a garage queen. Get 'this' YZ 490 (bored to) forconsiderably less.
I have had a lot of VMX fun (3 Class Championships with AVDRA), o a lot of good memories.
