Description

Yamaha RD400F (1979) Daytona, atching numbers, ery nice condition, ut not a museum piece! This was my weekend rider until I quit riding on the street three years ago. The bike has been parked in my workshop since then. I put a new battery in, leaned and gapped the points, emoved and cleaned the carbs and it started right up. I rode it for a couple of miles and everything works fine; brakes, ears, lutch, il injection, tc. I would like it to go to someone who appreciates what a fine motorcycle it is.

It runs great, ut needs someone to go through and replace all the fluids e.g. transmission oil, rake fluid, ork oil, djust the chain, ighten nuts, nd check it over, tc. before doing any serious riding. The bike is mostly original except for mirrors, rips, xhaust and front fender. It has a RZ front fender on it. I have the original front fender and original pipes, ut they are in rough condition (see pictures.) The tank, ide covers, ear cowl, nd seat are in especially good condition.

Several years ago I went through the machine and made the following improvements/repairs: Complete rebuild done by Yamaha shop; top and bottom end. New injection pump.It has been ridden 710 miles since then. Street legal SPEC II expansion chambers (some surface rust on pipes-will need to be repainted). High flow K&N air filter, stock air box with filter is included) new bronze swing arm bushings, ew fork seals and progressive springs, ew rear shocks, ew Bridgestone Battlax tires, oth tires have plenty of tread, lthough rear has some dry rot from sitting. Brakes are also new. I have many extra parts that I will include with the bike: high output coils, xtra cables, riginal center stand and tabs, riginal front fender, riginal pipes, riginal throttle cable/carb linkage, ome gaskets and rubber parts, xtra carb parts and various Mikuni main jets. Also included: the factory service manual and a Haynes manual. (Please look at the pictures.)

I had planned to finish restoring the bike by stripping down to the frame and repainting everything, ut I purchased an older International Harvester tractor and it takes all of my spare time, and money.) Mechanically the machine is in A-1 condition, ut has the usual cosmetic blemishes that you should expect on a 36 year old bike that was ridden on a regular basis. With very little effort it can be a great everyday machine, r it could be stripped to the frame and restored completely. I have described this motorcycle as honestly as possible and it is being sold “as is” with no warranty. Once you have taken possession I will not take it back.

I will help with shipping in any way I can, owever all shipping arrangements and costs are strictly the buyers responsibility. I can deliver to your shipper for $1.00 a loaded mile within 100 miles, ut I will not crate the bike. A PayPal deposit of $500.00 is to be made within 24 hours of auction end. Payment must be made in full, ithin 7 days of auction end. Once it is paid for I can store the bike no charge until shipping/pick up arrangements are made. Please don’t bid if you don’t have the money to pay. Bidders with less than ten feedbacks or multiple negative feedbacks please contact me before bidding. I will accept cash in person, r a check, ut will not release the bike until payments have cleared. I have a Pennsylvania title in my name. The motorcycle is for sale locally at the buy-it-now price, o I reserve the right to end the auction early.
