1991 yamaha yz 250

My son was riding the bike and the transmission locked up in third gear, nd iwill not shift down or into neutral. We are not sure what the cause of this is. According to some internet research it could be a broken gear jamming things up. We pulled the spark plug to release compression so that he could push it back to the truck and the motor seems to be ok, ut I am no mechanic by any means that is why we are selling. The bike ran perfect up until this happened. When pushed the motor turns over and does not have any strange noises. This will make a great bike for the right person.
